Hello, I'm new

Hello everyone. I have been hearing great things about the 5:2 way of eating/fasting and have decided to try it. I had my first fast day yesterday and didn't find it too difficult.
I am 64 years old and my BMI is 23.9. My problem has always been that I carry my excess weight around my middle and have never been able to shift it completely. So, although I am within the healthy weight range for my height I would like to once-and-for-all tackle my waistline.
I know that being apple shaped is not healthy and this is my main motivation for trying the 5:2 plan. The other health benefits sound pretty good too.

I am very pleased to have found this forum.

Hi Muppet & welcome to the forum! I'm sure 5:2 will help you shift those stubborn areas which other diets don't touch! If you need any tips just ask, we're all happy to help if we can!

One thing I will mention is that as you are already a healthy weight you may find the weight comes off a little slower than for those of us with a few stone to lose. Be patient though and it will reward you.

Feel free to log your progress in the tracker here, which will also allow you to see how other users in a similar situation to yourself are progressing with 5:2 :)

Hello Muppet. I'd completely agree with Moogie in that you already sound a healthy weight so any future weight loss could be slow. A lot of us on here (me included) see this 5:2 as a change of life style with potentially so many more benefits than just the weight issues. So welcome, this is a great forum - everyone will make you feel welcome and there's so many people here to answer queries and offer suggestions, it's a great help. :)

Thank you both for the wecome :) and I appreciate your comments on not expecting too much in the way of weight loss. I do see this as a lifestyle change with great health benefits to be gained.
