Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Read the reviews of Michael Moseley's book on Amazon, there are pages of positive, inspiring stories from people who have experienced renewed energy, positive health benefits and loads of weight loss. The other overriding message is that they have all found it easy to fit into busy lives and it is something they feel they can continue to do forever, whenever AND they can still eat whatever they want the feast days. Very interesting and encouraging :D
Good morning Tinky & welcome to the forums!

Since getting married a couple of years ago I managed to pile on a couple of stone without realising - until I put some new batteries in my scales and shocked myself! I tried all the usual things I would have done to lose weight in my 20's- started exercising more(ugh!), cutting down on my food intake & reducing the amount of sugary & fatty foods I ate. It didn't work anymore. I may have lost a pound or two but it didn't stay off.

I was so frustrated, and when I saw the Horizon documentary in August it seemed like something that I could try. So I did...
6 months later I've lost 2st 5lb (hopefully I can add another 1lb to that tomorrow!) and have gone past my wedding weight and am now aiming for 'moving in together' weight - and beyond!

I feel it has been almost effortless, fittig in around my life perfectly and it has put me more in touch with what my body needs and what it only wants. That's not to say I don't eat any 'naughty' foods anymore, on my feed days I usually have a treat - cake, biscuit, chocolate etc. The difference is that I don't feel guilty about it anymore as I know that come weigh day the numbers will have gone down again, or at the very least not gone up. I've been doing this a while now so the losses are slowing down, but it's great to be able to enjoy my food and know that little by little I'm still getting smaller.

I very much feel I could keep this up forever, although at some point I suspect 6:1 may be necessary to to stop further weight loss.

I have never felt so evangelical about a way of eating before. It's been a total revelation to me, hence starting these forums & setting up the progress tracker - the stats in that speak for themselves as to how well this lifestyle works.
even after 1 week I can add myself to a 'success story' lol!
Only just done my first week, fasted last thurs, Mon & Weds - got on the sclaes this morning (only time) and LOST 6lbs waaa--hooooo!....
If you've read my thread where I write everyday, you'll see I've still eaten, burger, chips, chocolate and drank alcohol!
I could not be more over the moon tha I am right now!! Thank you everyone on this board for the support and encouragement :)

Of to celebrate my Mum's birthday now - gulit free slice of birthday cake me thinks!! heheheeee xx

Fantastic news well done both of you, so pleased it is working for you. It is dawning on me that this could really be a way to lose weight, keep it off and maintain a healthy life style - how good is that? I am not due to weigh myself 'officially' until Monday but I am going away this weekend with a group of friends and so wanted to lose a little bit more before then and I have, so far I have lost 7 pounds (now in my 3rd week), I know I WILL eat well and drink LOADS at the weekend but I also know I will fast next Monday and Wednesday as usual and all will be well in the end. I am very happy (sitting here with coffee and choc bar) weighing half a stone less than I did three weeks ago
