Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello - new to dieting

Hello everyone

Just wanted to introduce myself. This is my first ever diet. To be honest, I was very lucky when I was younger as I wasn't really bothered by food and never put on weight no matter how much I ate.

It's not like that now though......

So, I started a 4:3 diet four weeks ago and have lost about 8lbs.

I weigh myself every morning and average the 7 days. Is this a bit obsessive?? I found it easier than worrying that some days I appear to have lost very little and some days I have even gained!

Some days I spread the fast from lunchtime to the evening of the next day. It works quite well say from Sunday lunch to Monday evening.

Hoping to keep this up as a lifestyle rather than a diet.

Hi Eve & welcome :)

That's a great technique to average out your weight over the week, far better that than obsessing over the number each day. Many of us just weigh once a week on the same day around the same time. I like the idea of averaging but I don't think I could handle getting on the scales every morning like I used to.

Wow, so you go around 30 hours before having your 500 cals? Well done! A lot of us fast from dinner the day before until dinner on the fast day and then have a 500 cal meal, but I can't imagine missing dinner the night before as well! I suppose it's not so bad on a Sunday if you have a roast for lunch :) I usually have Sunday roast in the evening as my hubby needs a proper dinner and I don't think I could make it through until Monday dinner without it!

Hi

Yes a big family Sunday lunch and then nothing until Monday evening. It hasn't been much of a problem.

If I get desperate, I drink a small glass of 1% milk - which I love anyway.
