This is me!

A cheerful hello to everybody,

I am so glad that I have come across this forum and the 5:2 diet.
After having tried to lose weight practically all my life (Cambridge, Atkins, WW, hormones, self-hypnosis...), this way of living just feels like a real revelation and a bright light at the end of a loooong dark tunnel where I had nearly given up fighting for a more healthy weight altogether.
I have completed my fifth fast yesterday and within two weeks I have lost
5,3 kgs, which is really amazing. But I seem to have to lose more weight than most of you, I aim to lose 40 kgs which is a bit more than a third of my total body weight in the long run (Before you have to start calculating: I started at 117.3 kgs and aim to be about 77 kgs in maybe two years time. My scales don't do stones and lbs though, you may have to calculate there, sorry).

So much from me for now!

If you worked it out in %, it's probably not much different to smaller losses by people starting with a lower initial weight.

Good luck!

Hi Trini & welcome :)

Many of us are in a similar boat, having dieted for much of our lives - often managing to lose weight but failing to stick to the diet and therefore regaining. A frustrating never ending cycle it seemed.

5:2 truly has been a revelation to me, having lost 15kg (ooh, this morning was weigh day, make that 15.5kg!) in the last 6 months with what seems like next to no effort and no feelings of being on a diet/restricted in what I eat. I no longer feel guilt about the treats I enjoy, and my body tells me if I've had too much :)

I'm sure there are at least a few people here with similar weight loss goals to yourself, and no doubt you'll come across them here sooner or later :)

If you're not already using it perhaps you'd like to take a look at the progress tracker and enter your data? It's a helpful way to keep track of how you're doing and it also compiles stats for the forum as a whole, showing how well 5:2 works for different kinds of people :)

Hi Trini

I just want to tell you that I am not longer on a diet. I fast twice a week and today I will eat cake! I have lost 4lb in 4 weeks which I was a bit disheartened about until I joined this forum. I have never joined a forum before but wow, I now feel good about myself and my weight loss. Reading what everyone else has to say really does keep you going, after all the weight didn't go on in a couple of months so it won't come off in a couple of months. I'm in this for the long haul.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It really is a life saver for me as well, I truly believe so now.
I've been on the programm Trying hard to avoid "diet" ;-) ) for three weeks now and I have lost 7.1 kgs.
The best is though that I really think I will be able to keep going like this for a very long time if not forever.
