Hello everyone,
Today is my first day doing the 5:2 diet and I'm feeling very positive about it.
I have been on every diet imaginable and always regained any weight lost.
I see this as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. I want to be healthy as well as lose weight.
I hope to be an active member of this forum and look forward to chatting and swapping tips with you all :)

Hello Angela. I started 2 weeks ago and fast Mondays and Thursdays. I didn't think I could possibly manage not eating 3 times a day but really need to lose weight round my middle which is not shifting with just eating sensibly, so hoping this diet works. Surprisingly it hasn't been too bad, it's true what they say about hunger being thirst a lot of the time. I have 2 meals on fast days, but disappointly haven't lost anything yet, but will stick with it.

Hi Angela

I'm the same as you, been on all the diets, lost the weight and put it all back on...I didn't want another diet where I had to count calories all day or points, I love how easy this diet is...and like you say it's about changing your lifestyle aswell.

Good luck with everything, and I hope your first fast day is going good for you

Hi Angela,
I think once you have done your first week it will become easier. I've done two weeks so far and on my third fasting day I had to keep reminding myself it was a fasting day because I didn't feel hungry at all.
I lost 3lb in the first week but nothing the second week so I'm hoping for a little bit more off by the end of this week.
Good luck - we just have to be patient and we'll get there. :D

Thanks everyone. Whatever possessed me to have a fast day on a Sunday?? It went ok but I will change it to Monday next week (much less temptations ;) ). My next fast day will be Wednesday, so I hope that will be easier. I'm going to do what I see some of you do and prepare my meals the day before and see how that goes.

I hope your first day went well. I am just into my third week and, like you, have spent my life gaining, losing, gaining weight. My trouble is that I am an excellent dieter but an even better eater! I am hoping that this will be a way of solving that for good.
I have found the fasting days no problem, although I do have to keep busy and drink plenty. I also think that when eating 'normally' on no-fasting days it has to be remembered that this is what would be normal for most people - not those of us who love to eat more than 'normal'!
Good luck!
