New to 5:2 so far so good
11 Feb 2013, 00:10
Hello just checking in linked from fatsecret. Been 5:2ing for about two weeks and trying to lose weight since early Jan.
So far so good lost 10lbs by just eating less and healthier, then stalled and so thought I'd try 5:2 lost another 4lbs. I'd like ideally to lose 20lbs initially and then take it further. I find it easier to set smaller goals than go the whole hog in one go. So 6lbs to go to first goal.

Good luck everyone I'm off to read the FAQs

Had to do a fasting blood test this morning cholesterol is high but I get the real results on Monday. Had a busy day and didn't fancy eating anything but had 2 huge slices of fruit cake with coffees.
Wanted to have the steak and salad i had put by for dinner, but was tired and ended up in bed early. Now awake but still don't feel like eating is this normal? I don't want to starve myself - despite the fruit cake!! Got another busy day tomorrow so will make sure I eat properly.

5:2 does seem to change our appetites somewhat and make us more aware of when we *need* food as opposed to just *wanting* it. Quite often I still give in to wants, but I know the scales will still be nice to me so I don't mind.

If you're eating smaller meals on your fast days you may well also find your stomach has shrunk a bit so you don't feel like filling it up so much. I'm sure you won't starve, your body will tell you when it *needs* something, and you'll know to listen.

Today wasn't a fast day so had a real feast of 3 slices of toast and jam, coffee with lots of milk, french bread and pate and dinner of salmon with salad and new potatoes = really enjoyed it all. Totalled up to roughly my rdi of 1700 calories. I find I'm making healthier choices on the feed days and enjoying the treats.

Lost a further 4lbs since last checking in so only 2 off first goal.
I'm going to try either alternate day or 4:3 for another kick start.
