Not losing weight?

Help us to help you! Please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

I'm another that had it drummed into me for years.... 'breakfast, the most important meal of the day'

Now I could understand that years ago, when I had a very physical and strenuous job or was out for a days rock climbing and used up tons of energy, could eat for England and hardly had any excess weight!

These days I don't need anywhere near the calories/energy, (but love my food  ) however, on this WOE, on fast days I miss breakfast and leave lunch until as late as possible. Sometimes if I have a 'lunchtime' omelette about 2pm I find that evening I can manage with a bit of fruit and yogurt. I find missing breakfast is not a problem any day ...... except Saturdays toasted bacon butty, that is a law hewn in stone :like:

Well, I made it through to tea time. I had a cup of tea at lunch and nothing more until dinner time. I was amazingly not all that hungry. Today I hopped on the scales, although it isn't weighing day, and I was a kilo lighter than my lowest weight. It doesn't really count until I weigh that on weighing day as I know my weight goes up and down all the time. But still, it's encouraging. I will now do my fast days differently and thank you everyone for your thoughts and experience.

There was a poll a while back which suggested that the majority of people save all their cals for dinner on fast days. I guess I'm in the minority of really needing something in the morning. I don't like to eat when I first get up, but after about an hour, my tummy starts grumbling. I have a soft-boiled egg, sometimes with a bit of fruit. It doesn't seem to turn on a hunger button for me, since I don't get hungry again, on average, until about 4pm, when I have a miso soup.

As for trusting the calories in recipes: unless you're using exactly the same ingredients in exactly the same amounts, you can't use their numbers. Even then, misprints happen. I would always check, where possible.

Congratulations, Sallyo, for making it through the day! The 'one-meal' route isn't for everyone, but at least now you know that you can do it, if that is what you decide works for you. Well done! Onwards and downwards!

Always a believer in having breakfast I decided to listen to my stomach (no growls = no need to eat) and I have my first food when I feel hungry. I think I will always have two meals on a fast day though, because by 1 pm my stomach is protesting so loudly (quite tuneful at times) that it causes comment by people nearby!

Early on I found missing breakfast made it easier and now I've started missing lunch as well and using my allowance in the evening. Today is only 2nd time but it worked well last week. Been on this since September and hope continue indefinitely.
