Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi All, just wanted to introduce myself to the forums and ask a couple of questions (which have probably already been asked).

1. Which is preferable for health/weight loss. Fasting for 24hr or 36? I have 2st to lose to get to my optimum weight

2. I have slight hypertension (145/85). Is there any data out there that shows if 5:2 fasting has any effect on lowering blood pressure.

Thanks a lot
Best Regards
Iain

Yes, there is data showing that 5:2 reduces blood pressure. There is lots of great info down in the "Nerdy Stuff" part of the forum.

The vast majority of us fast for 36 hours. So we eat dinner at night, go to sleep, and wake up to start the fast day. Between the time we wake up and the time we go to sleep, consume only 500 or 600 calories, depending on gender, and then eat normally on the following day.

Hope this helps!
