Forever journey

I'm not sure if it's best to keep a progress journal on this thread or keep a blog or both

Maybe both, but I'm still working it out in my head. So here is my first progress report, which is also my first blog entry...

After a good beginning, doing my first fast on Christmas Eve and fitting in 4 fasts before the New Year, I was looking at my tracking calendar today and realised I've only done 1 fast this year, so far!

The first 5 days of the year was spent camping and kayaking in extremely hot weather. I had not planned to fast then and did not. Back to work on the 6th and my first fast day of the year. It went well, with work keeping me way too busy to even think about being hungry.

But then I fell into a hole called PMS. Not all months are the same and this one has been a particularly bad one. The migraine started on Wednesday and continued through Thursday and Friday. All the pain med combinations I tried, barely put a dent in the pain...it was awful. And being the kind of person I am, I worked through all 3 days, even when my boss asked if I didn't think I should just go home.

So the planned fast on Thursday did not happen, mainly because I did not want to take medication on an empty stomach. I also missed 2 run/walk sessions on the Wednesday and Friday, so I'm feeling as if I'm a bit lost, especially since I now realise I've only fasted once this year!

But it means I am more determined to get 2 good fasts in this week and jump straight back into the C25K program. I'm up to Week 2, Day 3 next and there's no going back this time.

The good news is that I'm still actually 0.2kg down from when I started just before Christmas

Hoping for a "proper" fast week this week

Catamo, don't beat yourself up, you're doing great and not alone in missing fasts out over Christmas and New Year. Just jump back into your routine asap and carry on and all will be well!

Fast Day 7 and the best yet! No food till dinner, which was a green salad and a small portion of homemade macaroni and cheese. I was planning steak and salad, but it's just too hot to cook. So a high carb meal it is
I interested to see how I feel tomorrow because after Monday's fast, I had a strange day on Tuesday - felt dizzy and quite weak all day. I'm not sure if it was related to the fast day or something else, but I can't think what  .
Weigh in day tomorrow and I'm excited! Hopefully I will see some change, especially since it's after a fast day. At first I thought it was best to weigh in 2 days after a fast to be more accurate, but after reading a tip somewhere on the forum, I like the idea of always weighing in after my second fast of the week i.e. Friday.

Woohoo! Finally some good numbers show up. After 2 successful fast this week, I am down to 67.4kg. That's a total loss of 2.2kg since I started just before Christmas!
It's been a pretty amazing day :victory: even though work had dissolved into complete chaos by 9am.

It started with my weighin for the Valentines Day Challenge. After 3 fasts and a Zumba class this week, I was hopeful but it's also TTOTM so I was nervous.

I achieved my goal of 67kg by scraping in at 66.9kg! And my BMI is now green! And I've lost 7cm around my waist since Christmas! :like:

This evening I have completed and submitted my last assignment before 4 months of a break from studying! So I'm feeling pretty awesome all round  Time now to focus a little on myself and all the things I love that I've been neglecting

Thanks @callyanna

Today's plan is to bake a pecan pie ( my all time favourite dessert) to share with friends and family at a get together tonight, so there's no chance I eat it all myself
But in general, focus on getting back to my running now I have a bit more time and spending a little time each day on myself! That's plenty of celebration I think!

Third fast day of the week today, but not all successful. On Sunday I fasted and it went fine, but on Tuesday, I was feeling off from the beginning and at lunchtime had some steamed fish and a coffee. And that was the end of that! I then had 2 plain biscuits and 2 chocolate biscuits and it spiraled from there. By the end of the day, I had no idea what had gone wrong, and spent some time thinking about it.

That was when I realized that on the previous day ( a feed day ), I had not eaten much at all. One of the reasons I enjoy fast days is because I don't have to bother about packing or organising lunch. In the morning, after my usual feed day Breaky of muesli, banana and Greek yoghurt, I decided not to bother about packing lunch, because I always manage fine on a fast day. So I planned to eat the small meal provided when we eat with the toddlers at work, and I thought I would be fine. And I was. Dinner was also light, some grilled meat and a salad.

But by the next day, a fast day, I just fell to pieces!

So the plan yesterday (after fast day 2) was to eat properly and I did, eating more than I usually do, but sticking to healthy choices. And I did not place any limits on how much I ate. I didn't count calories, but I'm pretty sure it was between 1800 and 2000 calories for the day.

Result: it's 12.30 on Fast day 3 and I'm feeling fine! I've had plenty of water and will have my usual banana that fills me up at around 4pm. Then dinner which will left over bolognaise mince and salad.

This has taught me not to be complacent on feed days (or lazy). It's as important for me to eat properly on feed days as it is to eat less on fast days if I'm going to make this a successful journey.

And if there's a gain on the scales tomorrow, I know that in the long run I have done the right thing

Funny how that happens isn't it? You wake up some days and just know it isn't going to work out that day. You re doing really well and obviously have managed to plan things and think things through well. It is a great achievement to get yourself into the healthy BMI range, just where I want to be too!!
