Thanks bala5057, I only measured my waist on 30 January, and that was the trigger that made me realise I had a real problem, despite the medics saying all was fine with me, so long as I kept taking the medication. I have received more and better sensible advice from the contributors to this forum in 5 weeks, than 15 years of diabetic 'care' in the NHS. I am elated, and can't see me ever not doing intermittent fasting. I have been more settled in my moods, and the energy levels are the best for years. Honestly, I can not praise this concept enough, I just wish I had heard about it years ago, but I feel that the NHS will never endorse it, so I will just carry on doing it myself. For years I have been following the acceptable criteria of the 'balanced' diet--- utter tosh! A balanced diet is exactly what it says-- balanced for the perfectly well and fit individual. People with weight to lose or gain, need an unbalanced diet, and diabetics need less carbohydrates, which is not balanced. Telling me to consume 55% carbs, no matter how nutritious, has only kept the pharmaceutical companies going. I am 65, and have now decided I am going my own way--- well not really-- the 5:2 way. Good luck with your blood profile.
I don't really have progress to report, since I just started yesterday with my first fast. I challenged myself to do a total fast, and I made it! Yesterday and today were feed days, and I couldn't eat much of anything. A couple slices of toast with peanut butter. Then later I had some peanut MM's and they made me feel sick. Tried to eat supper, but could only get a little bit down. Just not hungry. Tomorrow I fast again. Looking forward to it! Who woulda thought!
A little mix-up! I fasted Monday, ate yesterday and today.
Cindyls, I think what you are experiencing is common amongst us- a feeling of not wanting to eat a great deal on none fast days. I believe that should cause us to look at the quality of the reduced quantity of food we are taking in, and then we will win all round . So.... Reducing our previously indulgent intake, and increasing our nutrient intake gives us 2 great benefits. Only positive results can emerge from this. Please keep at it, you will feel great!!
