Last night during a Legs, Bums and Tums class I noticed for the first time that I was actually looking slimmer. Our exercise studio is surrounded with mirrors and in the past I have tended to hover in the middle of the room so all reflections are obscured by other attendees. However, last night I found myself at the front (not sure how that happened) and when I looked in the mirrors I noticed that I did look slimmer and I know I shouldn't do this, but I started to compare myself to others in the class who I used to beleive were smaller than me.

Needless to say I completed the class on a high!

I truely believe that doing the 5:2 with exercise has made me more self confident, happy and content for the first time in a couple of years.

Have any of you felt a similar high?
Oh yes fiona, nearly all of the time !! - I've lost 3.5 stone so far (started calorie counting before I discovered 5:2 last summer on the Horizon programme) - my t-shirts are now tucked in my jeans for the first time in so long I really can't remember. Feel sooooo much better about myself - find I'm generally just a happier person (not that I was every a misery in the first place) more spontaneous about doing things and generally enjoying life in general so much more.... and when Spring finally arrives here in soggy Surrey I know I'll be walking with even more of a spring in my step. Fantastic feeling - LOVE IT !!
Me too!

it's a great feeling, isn't it? And very motivational.
That's fantastic!!! Must be such a great feeling - well done :-)
Inspiring! Thanks for sharing that. I have been scared to start exercising because I just started 5:2 and I haven't exercised regularly for a long time. One change at a time for me, hopefully I'll be more like you in the future and "burning the candle at both ends," so to speak!
Give it a go...be brave.

I started at a gym and yesterday they stuck my picture on their FB page. If my BMI was at 22, I'd be competing! :-)
Saturday evening, when my mum and grandmother told me I look thinner. I was flying that evening!!!
That's wonderful!
I've shrank a little bit too, it's a fantastic feeling.
That's great Fiona. :like:
I'm hoping that I will join the shrinking club soon...
Yay for you Fiona, well done
its a great feeling isnt it

good luck with the rest of your journey
Thank you all for the positive encouragement. I love going to the gym and if anyone feels selfconscious then don't. Most people at the gym are only interested in themselves so don't be shy and give it a go!
Just adding my congratulations, fionaw2110!
I felt good this weekend when my sister, who I hadn't seen since Christmas, was very complementary about my appearance. DD (15yr old) also noticed, which was a real boost.
Must get going on the exercise to combat the flab now!

It is very empowering isn't it? Well done Fiona! :like:
Well done everyone. It is such a good feeling isn't it? I had my first weight in yesterday morning and a work night out last night but i stayed the same on the scales this morning. Thrilled with that...
