Order the weight is coming off.
15 Apr 2013, 08:50
I'm going into my 12th week and I've lost nearly 20lb. I've noticed some significant changes in the shape and size of my body. A few people have commented, and I've also seen a few look me up and down, then opt not to say anything nice - really tells you who you're friends are!!

I just wanted to report that I seem to be losing weight exactly in the reverse order that I put it on. If that makes sense. My thighs/ hips had got particularly big in the last 6 months and they reduced first. Then my upper arms reduced. Now my belly and abdomen are reducing. It's pretty much as if my body is taking fat on a 'first in - first out' basis.

Anyone else noticed this?
Wow well done on your weight loss! I started this woe fri so its good to hear success
Best wishes Claire23, it's a very interesting and exciting journey you're embarking on!
Just wondering if age has anything to do with where it goes on and where it comes off???
I am noticing it off tummy and midrif first!
Well done on the weight loss redhead x
It's great news that it's coming off! I always had a bit of a paunchy belly and abdomen so I'm expecting that to go last. In fact, I even suspect the round tummy won't go at all, regardless of how much weight I lose, because I'd probably need to do some sit ups or something.
So it seems reasonable age and activity level/ type of activity are likely factors.

It's just such an interesting journey this 5:2ing!!
Well done Redhead. Superb effort.
Don't you hate it when miserable "friends" purposely choose NOT to comment on your changing shape? I do!!
Such a shame they can't celebrate and be generous with their comments.
Redhead you are doing Amazing!!!! Great Job!!
Thanks folks! I am doing well and I love how easy it's become. All hail Michael Mosley!!
I'm puzzled by the order that my weight is coming off. I'm a definite pear shape and have always gained weight on my legs and hips and last in my abdomen and chest. I'm losing inches all over, but I notice my clothes being looser on my legs than in other areas. Maybe perimenopause is causing me to carry my weight differently? It's definitely a different pattern of weight loss for me.
Sure O'Dell it's coming off and that's the main for most of us! Interesting that it isn't the same for everyone - further confirmation that the body is complex and we're all individual!
Redhead,

So amazing that you have lost 20 pounds already. You must look amazing! Have you found the diet easy/hard? What have you been eating on feed days so as not to go over board?
Hi Rufus, I've lost about 1.75 lb per week on average - fluctuates a bit, but I've lost at least a pound every week for 11 weeks. I'm rather amazed myself as I've never dieted before. Couldn't stick to anything else for more than a day or two. I did normal 5:2 for a few weeks then graduated to two water fasts a week - see you're also interested in that from MGM's thread. I've found it fairly easy - certainly becoming pretty 'normal' now after a good couple of months' water fasting twice a week. I still keep expecting to get a gain/ maintain on my formal Friday weigh in but it hasn't happened yet. I do gain a few pounds during the week (I weigh in more often occasionally).

I really notice the weight off now and am starting to struggle to find something in the wardrobe that doesn't look loose and a bit silly on me. Bought a new dress this week, but otherwise trying to hold off on shopping until I reach my target weight.

I don't consciously control what I eat on non fast days. I over ate a bit at first, but these days I just find I eat less without really realising it. I used to eat because it was 'time to eat'. Now I can have a snack instead of lunch and it doesn't bother me. I still eat some junk, but I generally eat fairly healthily in the sense of home cooked meals - still pretty standard in Ireland - I just used to have huge portions. Most proper meals involve meat/ fish plus potatoes and boiled veg. Fairly simple.

Water fasting (24 hours, 36 hours) has been a good way for me to understand hunger and train my body about when I'm actually hungry. I've certainly had a good experience and enjoy it to the extent that I intend to do one water fast per week/ fortnight when I get to my target weight.

Must also add that I'm thinking about you all in Boston after the dreadful marathon incident. Long and bitter experience here in Northern Ireland of that type of depressing sh1t (pardon the French). So really feeling for you all.

Best wishes.
