Hi everybody.

A little bit about myself. I've been super fit during my life, specially when I was 30 since I was an aerobics trainer. I quit from training when I had my kid at the age of 33 and stopped doing exercise in a regular basis. By this time my regular weight was 63kg in a 1,70m body.
I started to gain weight but stayed in 67kg until my 40s. And here is where all started to be messed up.

I moved from healthy diet in Spain to cupcake paradise in the UK and now, with 44 years I weight 81kg. I feel horrible, clumsy and old. I started running again, but oh boy, with this overweight it was such a pain that I felt embarrased. I have my wardrobe full with lots of nice clothes I cant use as it's imposible to fit on them.

I sarted the Dukan diet las year. It was my first diet in my life. The principle is ok and you do lose weight. BUT it is so difficult to follow when you eat everyday at work and in a country that lives on carbs.... Sandwiches, rolls, wraps, potaoes..... Bringing food from home is not an option. So, eating just proteins and no carbs proved to be difficult.

So I heard about this and tought "ok, I can do this". Aim is to fast 2 days a week with only liquids (water and tea) and eat reasonably 5 days. I want to reduce my sugar intake. So chocolate and junk food just for special ocasions. And let's see how it works!

I started yesterday, Friday with a full fast day. I had my last dinner on Thursday at 8pm and will not eat until Saturday morning. The day went well, lots of tea. I felt hungry at supper time but as I was tired, what I did is to go to bed early. I slept like a baby.

Today is Saturday morning and I'm not hungry at all. I dont usually have breakfast since I feel it drains my energy instead of boosting it. So I will wait for lunch time.

My only doubt is to know if I can fast again on Monday or if 2 days in between is too much.

Thanks for reading!
Hello Kasiopea and wellcome!

I wish you a very successfull journey with 5:2. Good luck, you can do it

Welcome Kasiopea! I'm not as tall as you but my current goal is 65 kg. I started 5:2 just over nine weeks ago at 85 kg, and am now down to 75.5 kg, so about halfway to my goal. I fast on Mondays and Thursdays and have found two days between fasts is fine for me. I like doing a fast just before and just after the weekend which is likely to include special occasions and feasting. I did my first water-only fast last week and am considering making that a permanent arrangement for my Mondays. The best of luck to you and let us know how you're going! :clover:
Thanks for the welcome!

I have edited my height.... I'm not that tall ;-) a 5 slipped in instead of a 0. I'm 1.70m, not 1.75. My fault, sorry!

My plan is to fast before and after the weekend too. Friday is easier since I tend to work from home and I have less influence from outside. But I guess my family will complain at a certain point. No family Friday night out week after week will not be a popular choice. But Thursdays I atend class after work so it's a long day ahead. Let's see how this works out.
Welcome Kasiopea- love the cookie monster!
Good luck with your plan and don't be afraid to change it about depending on how you're feeling. For this to be a sustainable way of eating/life it has to work for you , not against you. Looking forward to hearing how you get on. Remember to measure!
:clover: :)
Hi Kasiopea

Welcome - if you are improving your fitness too then measuring is important as some people seem to lose cms before they lose weight. I have modified my approach to the "diet" as I have gone along. I have learnt a lot from this forum which has been great as well as the friendly support.
Looking forward to hearing how you are getting on.
Will do.... As soon as I find a tape measure ;-)

Until you get a tape measure you could use a ribbon. ;)
Hi good luck, post your progress chart and definitely measure as that can be very inspirational in the beginning. Don't worry I bet you will be feeling much better soon. Although I haven't lost loads I feel so much more spritely already!
Hi Kasiopea,

I'm pretty much exactly the same height and weight as you (although maybe a little younger!) so will be interested to see how our weight loss compares!

I hope you manage to find a way to fast and still keep your family happy!
