Just seen another negative article about 5:2:

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/clark-r ... 29148.html

Now I've no problem with people trying and failing this WOL, but I'm totally fed up with journalists trying on purpose to debunk it without researching it and clearly as an attempt to look cool and edgy! :pissedoff:
At the end of the article, the author mentions the "profit motive" of the 5:2 Fast Diet authors and then there's a plug for his own e-book. I tried 5:2 because there was so much information without buying anything; the "rules" are certainly simple enough. I didn't buy the book or spend a cent and I found 5:2 to be relatively easy and flexible and it has worked for me. There are lots of useless articles in Huff Post that I don't understand why anyone thought them to be worth the space; if it were a print paper they wouldn't publish so much pure opinion filler.
I decided to click on the name of the author, it turns out that he has a problem with diet companies etc on the whole as he had a sister who resorted to weight loss surgery. I feel sorry for him and his sister, but clearly that sort of bias is not a good basis to be writing articles.
The following post is an excerpt from a 10,000 word critique I have written and offered to the mainstream media regarding the 5:2 diet with a view to them offering a contrasting opinion, but have been declined by all.

I am not a big fan of the mainstream media, but I understand very well why they don't want to pay the author for this 'excerpt', and I doubt that the 10,000 word version is any better. By the way, reading the 'excerpt' is a waste of time.

This forum accumulates enough evidence to convince me that intermittent fasting can work. We all know that weight loss isn't an easy journey, but the average weight loss of a pound per week is impressive.

I don't mind authors earning money with their books; I hope they earn enough to be motivated for their next book!

And Harvie/Howell state on the first page of their book:

"All author proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Genesis Breast Cancer Prevention (Registered charity number 1109839") http://www.genesisuk.org"

P.S.

A commercial book project for Moogie (and a forum member with editing experience):

Title: 5:2 works! Confessions of successful dieters

First chapter: Moogie, the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and how she hit her weight goal.

Rest of the book: The best stories of the forum members, enriched by standardised e-mail interviews.

P.P.S
