Brad Pilon's latest newsletter...

The Journal of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) has been running a very interesting series of articles on Intermittent Fasting.
I'm interviewed in this series and was very happy to see that my quotes were used properly and accurately (a rarity these days).
These articles are a great read that probably won't receive the type of publicity that the 'shock and awe' main stream magazine articles about fasting are getting, but they do contain a whole lot more truth.
Note that obviously an article in a medical journal doesn't reflect an endorsement of Eat Stop Eat by the Canadian Medical Association in any way (just to avoid any confusion)
You can read the articles here ---> Intermittent fasting: the science of going without
Slowly but surely breaking down the barriers...

The article in the link is a follow-up to a previous CMAJ news story "Intermittent Fasting: the next big weight loss fad" (pdf attached).
Having read both articles they are reiterating what the regular dieter already knows so nothing new here. More lately I tried fasting on a daily basis and after the initial hiccups weight was rapidly lost; there were days when I felt really well and energised; BP too dropped rapidly. After two weeks I moved to the 5:2 fast when BP rose although not as high as it was and a little weight was gained. I then hit the plateau and although being on the 5:2 for a month nothing has altered except spiritually I felt and feel a tad low most days. This past week I returned to daily dieting but again without any change. On leaving the fast I eat normally and never overeat; I have small meals only.

My own experience suggests that by far the best diet for myself is the Atkin's diet. Usually it only needs to be done about once a year; best prior to holidays; when I can rapidly lose a stone (anything more and I begin to look scraggy). I am thinking of purchasing Brad Pilon's book, 'Eat, Stop, Eat' to see what he has to say.

Thank you for the references.
