I have just watched an Australian Catalyst science show on saturated fat and heart disease and as usual it has raised more questions than answers, especially after reading this very well set out article:
http://rawfoodsos.com/2011/12/22/the-tr ... -it-wrong/

The take out from the science show was that saturated fat isn't necessarily the enemy and cholesterol isn't the monster it is made out to be. After the late 40s, statins make no difference. Good, that saves $39 pm!!

Then I read this article (good old internet) and this made the science a lot more uncertain. Data based on food available not just from intake. Uneven classification of death across different countries. The study was from 1950, can we really accept a study that old? Given that in the intervening years, agribusiness and pharmaceutical giants have stepped in to influence what we eat and create illnesses that we need pills and potions from.
Am interested in a scientific opinion on this. My take is that nothing is concrete and the evidence isn't satisfying enough either way. I shall continue eat all things in moderation and try not to get too scared or paranoid!!!
I watched the same program and up came the issue of butter and coconut oil. It was a good program suggest people view it

Funny you should mention bacon. I saw the same show and just added bacon to my shopping list. Haven't eaten it in ages - can't wait!
