Low sugar vs low pressure
16 May 2013, 16:05
Fasting today - already went over 500 (I've already added my dinner) but now pushed it to 600 after eating a sweet when I felt woozy and drained. Now I feel even more woozy and drained. So I cheated for nothing :-(

Can anyone tell me the different symptoms of low blood sugar vs low blood pressure? I feel so weak I'm dreading the cycle home!!

I don't recall being able to tell when my blood pressure was low, at least not short term. In other words symptoms did not come on suddenly they were a slow progression to feeling weak and tired over the course of days/weeks.

Low blood sugar makes me feel shaky, almost nauseous. Have you had enough to drink? Could be dehydrated? I find a cup of bouillon or something very salty is helpful. Something sugary, for me, usually makes matters worse after a very brief reprieve.

I would measure it if it's an ongoing issue - blood pressure gadgets are not expensive, nor are glucose meters. Or ask at a pharmacy to see if they do measurements, or the GP surgery nurse.

With low blood pressure you are likely to notice if you stand up quick - light headed effect or postural hypotension.

might help.
