American Diabetes Association 2013 scientific meeting is on.

http://app.core-apps.com/tristar_ada13 is their "app" (desktop version, at least) where you can see paper & poster titles, abstracts etc.

There are some fasting references, though it's not easy to separate them from "fasting glucose" and the like.

This poster looked at the difference between fasting and carb restriction in terms of blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetics.
In summary both a carbohydrate-free diet and short-term starvation (fasting) dramatically decrease the blood glucose in people with type 2 diabetes. Of the decrease in integrated glucose area observed with fasting 70% could be attributed to removal of carbohydrate from the diet.

A Study of 6 months 5:2 concluded " Long term intermittent fasting seems to be beneficial with regard to its effect on glycaemia ApoB LDL-c (metabolic effect) uricemia (oxydatif stress) CRP (inflammatory marker) and factor VII ( thrombotic risk). "

Wouldn't it be great if some forward looking, enlightened health insurers took note and offered reduced health cover insurance for people doing IF? My daughter and grandchild live in Texas and healthcare cover is horrendously expensive. Wish our own NHS would also take note of these studies and positive results and recommend IF instead of their useless "eat well plate" chart.
