Chocolate Cravings = Gone Away
28 Jul 2013, 09:42
As some of you may know I adore chocolate - but for the past 3 weeks there have been four bars of chocolate in my fridge and I haven't even felt the desire to have any!

I think I have got used to saying to myself on a fast day that 'I can have xx tomorrow' and then the next day I didn't want it so I didn't eat it and it has gone from there. I had a piece of toast for the first time in two weeks - it tasted like cardboard, so I don't feel I'm missing out (I'm wheat intolerant.

I am eating far more nutritious and balanced food now and have lots of energy.

Looking back, I think my excessive consumption of chocolate was a real challenge to my body trying to cope with a sudden rush of sugar and my blood sugar levels were all over the place.

Has anyone else noticed a particular 'unhealthy food/drink item they no longer consume on a regular basis since starting 5:2?
Hi that could have been my post I feel exactly the same although I've always got treats in (coz OH has sweet tooth) and i do indulge but not as often + on smaller scale. :clover: Sue
Chocolate for me, I now have a fridge full of the stuff which I rarely eat. I find it hard to believe that I can take or leave chocolate after a lifetime of foraging for the bloomin' stuff at every opportunity. In some ways I am rather sad as it's like losing a good friend except chocolate was never a good friend to me

Ballerina x
Porridge oats - every breakfast for years (raw, with milk or OJ) until 5:2 started in Feb. Tried a couple of times since, not happy with how they make me feel now. If I do have cereal now it is Tesco rice crispies in Koko milk...

Eating lots of chocolate but it has to be 85% or more - minimizes sugar and maximizes taste!
I very rarely eat porridge for breakfast now either - too filling! but it is like missing an old friend  I tried cocoa nibs and they are pretty awful as a nibble, will try to use them up in a pud as I think they might be ore palatable melted ? my neighbour who is nearly 90, and fit as a flea, was curious to try them - total disaster as they got stuck in and under her false teeth!! :curse:
I never ate porridge for breaky, always for lunch or dinner when my stomach was iffy or when I had a lot to eat on the night before. I still do (well, not now, it's too hot for porridge, thank God)!

I never craved for chocolate, perhaps because I ate a small piece of it it everyday. I still do, although now it is not chocolate but ice cream. Chocolate will come with winter, hopefully not too soon. :-)
