I also continued to lose weight after I went onto maintenance. I lost a further 7 pounds before it stabilised , much to my surprise and secret delight as I now had 'wiggle room' but I've never needed my wiggle room.

It must be something to do with sensible eating habits and re-discovering how appetite and hunger are supposed to work.
I did not expect to lose any more after getting to my second choice of maintenance weight but I have ended up a couple of pounds below without having to fast or even be strict about 16:8. I was starting to get worried but I think I have 'bottomed out' now - certainly feeling the cold though!

Same here. I tried 6:1 or else 2 days of 1000 cal./day, but continued to lose, a pound/fast day. I stopped fasting altogether in July and have not gained any back; in fact this morning I hit a new low, 8 pounds below my original target, but a good weight for me. I wonder if there is a metabolic mechanism that has been reset. I agree with CreakyPete; appetite must be more in tune with the body's actual needs.
