Maintenance plan, sustainable?
16 Aug 2013, 08:48
As I'm now approaching maintenance mode, perhaps in a month or three, starting to plan for how to actually live after my period of rather quick weight loss.

I'm aiming for a fat percent of 10-14, looking ripped and not like I just came home from some labour camp. I also want as much health benefits as possible without sacrificing the things that makes life worth living.

Monday
Fasting: No calories

Tuesday & Wednesday 16:8
Big breakfast at 7-8 AM
during most of the day, grazing a lot of raw vegetables, olive oil dressing
Big meal at 3-4 PM
Evening, nothing

Thursday:
Fasting: No calories

Friday:
Big breakfast, skipping lunch, saving the calories for evening binge behaviour
Big meal, plenty of wine, lot's of snacks, no restrictions

Saturday:
No restrictions, possibly skip lunch

Sunday:
Slightly healthier than Saturday, depending on how bad I was Friday and Saturday.

Exercise: Rowing/running for at least 30 minutes 3-5 day worth at least 2500 kcal/week, dancing Salsa and Tango a coupole of hours, some pushups and simple strength training, some walking to and from work.

Health wise it would be easier to skip breakfast, but I can't. Eating with my girlfriend in the morning is important.

Possibly I might find it too difficult not have snacks or something small to eat during feed day evenings mid-weeks, maybe if I allow myself and compensate with something like a three day fast 3-6 times each year.

Hmmm..., I dunno.., might this be a reasonable way to live for the long term?
2 days with NO calories every week sounds a bit drastic to me just for maintenance, I'd drop weight like a brick if I did that and end up looking like a labour camp refugee. BUT, only you can tell what will work for you and if this plan works then that is fine. You will never know until you try it. I understand what you say about breakfast being important with your girlfriend as I feel exactly like this when we are on holiday although we only have a croissant at about 10 or 11 a.m. so for a few weeks it is no big deal and it also seems to have no impact on my weight, I merely adjust my eating 'window' to accommodate it. Back home though it is a different matter, no breakfast EVER for me and that is not for everyone but isn't that the beauty of this system? So many individual choices and solutions, how wonderful is that?

I hope you reach your target on time and will be interested to hear how your maintenance goes, good luck, :clover:

Ballerina x
I did one day liquid fast this week and one day not eating until about seven. The rest of the week I skipped breakfast and didnt eat later than about 7/8 (so 16:8). Maybe two days of no calories will be off set by the other days if eating. Who knows?

I have maintained this week after the scales zig zagging throughout the week.
You're probably right Ballerina, and I suspect I will have to eat something during fast days. On the other hand I have the idea that your body and eating behaviour during the week might adapt, and I would naturally avoid getting too skinny. We'll see.

I suspect my BMI will be around 19-20 in at least 3 months, getting that fat percent down might take considerably longer, especially if I'm not to look like a camp refugee. I might even have to start going to the gym or something, and/or increase the intensity of my training at the cost of duration. More HIIT, less long distance.

Well, time will tell, I appreciate your input, all of you!
