Does anyone else have angina? I wonder is it safe to fast if you have angina?

I don't have angina. I don't really have the answer but I would imagine that fasting would not put any pressure particularly on your heart. Why would it? Perhaps though, to be sure, you should get medical advice.

It might depend on what meds you are on and if any of them cause your blood sugar to drop when you don't eat. But fasting can raise stress hormones, especially for people who aren't used to it. So I would suggest you not take your advice from strangers but ask your cardiologist.

Hello @Happyholidays I don't recall an angina conversation so yes I think you should consult your medic at this point in time and let us know the feedback you receive - copied in @carorees what is your advice?

I agree that you should consult your doctor before starting fasting. That goes for any heart condition apart from simple high blood pressure.

It may be that a gradual introduction of fasting will be needed. Start with only eating at meal times and giving up any between meal calories. Then a couple of days a week try skipping one meal. If that goes well you could then move to proper 5:2. But talk to your doctor first.
