The Fage brand yogurt sold in the U.S. has 18 g of carbs in a 100 calorie portion. That's what you'd get in 3 ounces of meat, but there is no meat that will come in that low in calories.

I had been eating very low carb for so long that eating 150 grams of carbs a day now seems to me to be a massive carb fest. That's because the great thing about doing a very low carb diet for an extended period of time is that you do become aware of how much carb you are eating mindlessly and you change your habits. I'm eating more carbs than I used to nowadays, but I mostly only eat carbs that get me excited, not all the mushy, tasteless, filler carbs that you find everywhere, and I am still very good about portion control because my body doesn't handle carbs well and overdoing it will make me feel lousy.

If you can handle carbs without getting tired or hungry after eating, there doesn't seem to be any reason not to eat them. But most people with significant weight issues don't fall into this category. Those who do make up that subset who do well on the very low fat diets that make the rest of us feel like we are starving to death.
I think it's horses for courses - some people can eat lots of carbs, lose loads of weight and not get the terrible tired and sluggish feeling after carb heavy meals - some people can't. From reading this thread and others on the forum I can also see there is a great variation in what constitutes 'low carb'; I eat around 60-70g daily which is low carb if you're used to eating 200+g (as I believe the recommended intake for women is I read somewhere) but it's not low compared to some people on here who try and eat under 30g daily. The thing is (I think) to find out what works for you that feels sustainable. And I reduced my carb intake gradually - not sure I could do the 'cold turkey' thing - and initially until I got used to it I did feel I had no energy - but that wore off.
