General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

Yesterday I met up with a friend and I was boasting about my 3kg loss. Friend replied with .. well look at me, have lost 7kg. Funny thing was I found out they were also doing 5-2, quite co-incidentally. He found out about it from a friend.

He is a foodie so as Bob's blog says this truly is a diet for foodies, as we can all enjoy amazing food on at least 4 days a week.

5-2 is well and truly popular down under!
excellent! :like:

This happens to me fairly often these days.
This weekend got lots of OMG where is the rest of you, or wow you look great, or what have you lost. Also oh yeah 5:2 fasting diet yeah hear of that. Best one was A respiratory physician whom I had an appt with who when I informed him I had just lost 12 kg he was very interested and asked me how, then he was curious and askeD what I ate on the 500 cals days. He also said heaps of his patients were trying the diet. Way to go!
whoohoo 5-2ers are an ever expanding group of people.

gillmary.. what wonderful comments you are getting. i love the "where is the rest of you"
Its slightly different, but one of the first people i met here was someone i knew from another, totally unrelated forum.
This is really happening:
Yesterday I was at the two-yearly reunion of five who were in the 6th form at school together and it turned out three of us were thrilled with our 5:2 lives (we are all in our 70s) fit and well and very active. It was fun to enjoy guiltless feasting on a lovely lunch but we didn't talk about it the whole time and this WOE is not obsessive but normal.
It was astounding that coconut oil came up and that doing the "pulling" was so helpful. (I would not have found out about that had it not been for this forum......)

.
Please direct me to "pulling". I looked it up on the search engine, but it was struggling.
I went and had a routine blood test recently. When the nurse was going through the results with me we got talking about weight loss, and she was most interested in the 5:2 which she had never heard of. When I left she was about to Google it! I felt sorry for the next patient who probably ended up with a bit of a wait!
The specialist nurse who assessed my wrist when it came out of its cast ten days ago was discussing the possibility of a DXA scan for bone density, I asked if it would give body fat percentage as well, she said 'there is no fat on you' so I said I had been doing 5:2 and she said 'me too, this is a fasting day!' Very impressed. The message does need to get to the rest of our NHS employees though...
As it is not really known over here I never met somebody who did it but, as I had some questions about how I am losing all the weight (28kgs since february), I sometimes explains, when I feel it's appropriate and the person is open minded enough. I have a few friends who have tried because of it.

Next step is to convice my mum to try as she really do need to lose some weight. She did Dukan for 2 years and it was a disaster. The problem is my dad, he won't want her to fast. I didn't say my last word on that however

Happened again. This time with a friend currently residing in the UK that I was chatting with on Skype yesterday and low and behold after me boasting about my 3k weight loss, he says he has lost 8kg after starting the diet from a recommendation by a friend some months back.

It's everywhere this 5-2 business!
I KNOW! I met someone yesterday who has been doing it. Again I never raise the topic of 5:2, only if someone mentions it. So that's four people in the space of two weeks. My weight loss is not yet noticeable, but it will be interesting to see if there are more closet fasters who will 'fess up when I'm lucky enough for people to ask me what I have been doing
I had to see the Nurse the other day and we started talking health and diet and I mentioned I'd started on 5:2 and she said she was going to be starting that soon herself.

Everyone's doing it!!!
