General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

I don't know if it's true or not but it kind of goes against the original principles of fasting. In Michael's original Horizon documentary we were told that we eat too much protein which essentially puts the body into overdrive. The example was "like driving your car with your foot hard down on the accelerator pedal all the time". The whole point of fasting was to reduce the amount of protein consumed (as well as all the other food types) so that your body goes into "repair mode". So by doubling the amount of protein you consume, as per that article, it seems in direct contrast to the whole point of fasting.....

Well... that's my understanding, anyway....
exactly what domane said, plus fasting makes you lose fat not muscle so there's no need to increase your cancer risk by eating too much protein. And it's bad for the planet too as eating more protein means more meat production which uses far more land added resources than producing crops.
