Got 'look at you skinny' today
30 May 2014, 11:45
Ok so it really was 'look at you, you skinny bitch' it was said from a good space and I laughed. But seriously I was wearing clothes which flattered my shape. Anyway I said still fasting but it is so easy

It was a back handed compliment. Them off to my hairdresser to my surprise I came across a fellow 5:2 faster of 12 months standing. That was fun too.
Well done @gillymary Yes I agree with @izzy All good compliments back handed or otherwise and always nice when someone actually notices. :clover: :clover:
They're just jealous !
Nice one!
Isn't it good to receive those comments?
Isn't it lovely when that is heard or overheard! My hairdresser who knows me well after many years tending to my hair said on the last two visits 8 weeks apart " I can't get over how you've slimmed and kept it off, it's wonderful".
....yes!
I have yo-yo'd regularly over the years and discussed every diet under the sun as one does. She asks for more about 5:2...."not much to it, is there? Perfectly do-able and sensible, and I need that."
....yes!
Great for the ego when someone notices  well done.
How lovely for you

Fantastic, well done and it must make you feel great :victory:
Thanks everyone

I so wish my dear friend who paid the compliment could do 5:2 as well as she worries me with her diabetes and other health issues. But I have learnt to be tactful and we can but provide the info and keep being a good example with maintenance. I pass on the 5:2 info often and only the other day may have converted another person. My hairdresser listened as us 5:2 converts chatted as to how easy it is and how motivated we both were to keep on intermittently fasting 12 months on
Congrats!

Re your friend with diabetes, fasting could be quite dangerous if she is on certain common drugs that require a steady supply of carbs. People with Type 2 can often replace those drugs with low carb diets and do very well, however. In that case, fasting might work very well.
Wow @gillymary that is a great compliment. It means that you really are slim! Forget bmi. If your waist is half of your height maybe this is your ideal body composition where you can maintain and you are happy and healthy. What do you think?

@izzy I have written about fasting with type 2 diabetes in the fasting section of the main site: https://www.fastday.com/fasting/fasting-with-diabetes/
Oh, that's thrilling @gillymary! Am so pleased for you.

Personally, I dream of hearing the "s" word at some point! No danger of me coming under that category just yet - but I can imagine how lovely it must have felt - so well done you!
