If I could issue multiple thanks for your post, then I would. I very much hope to see you down at BMI 24 sometime soon

Ken

Thanks Ken, that's a nice comment.

I will eventually make it to 24 but I'm not kidding myself that it will be any time soon!

One thing I have learned from my problems is that when you have b-all energy you need to make it count! For me going off to a gym is squandering that energy. When I have a bit of spare energy I will use it productively so that I have both the benefits of the exercise and something I can look at eg a clean cupboard or a tidy bit of garden, and know that I achieved something that day. Basically on the lines of your NEAT thread and building activity into normal life.
I have just started to exercise now I have lost weight, I am walking more and doing a few light weights to tone hopefully
Wow, this is the best thread in ages!

[quote="Silverdarling" Maybe we ought to start a 'Slowest losers on the Fast diet' thread ... (Just joking ...)"]

I've lost about 10 lbs in 7 months. Ignoring the initial water loss etc and the post Christmas excess, I reckon I'm losing 1-1.5 lbs PER MONTH. How about that?

That is with adding 16:8 (ie. no brekkie anymore) and low carb into the mix.

If I'd kept to 5:2 in it's purest form, it would have been even slower and I think I would have probably jacked it in by now.

Luckily I don't have any known health problems, so I really feel for those that do and have more hurdles to jump.

Julie
Madge - about the same monthly loss as me! I hope I get to 10lb loss at 7 months, lol!
Similar for me. Started to lose again this week after a mega plateau and it brings me to 8lbs in 25wks. Its slower than any other plan I've tried and in all honesty I've only got off the plateau this week because I've gone back to strict LCHF as well as 16:8.
Miffy and Madge - I feel a new thread coming on
There's the Slow Boat one that @TracE started a while back....we both feature on that!!
Ooooh must have missed that one. Never mind, possibly time to revisit - see new thread
I was thinking about that thread the other day and trying to remember who else was struggling.
My mum lost around 5 kilos doing 5:2 with a day of Dukan;s attack on two non-consecutive weeks.
Nah, I'm not jealous either!!!

Andy Smith says he lost 3 stone in 7 weeks, doing 5:2 with supplements (Scroll down towards bottom of page). That's 6 lbs per week!! I'm not jealous

Ughhh..I knew the marketing companies would find a way of making money from what is essentially stopping people needing any diet supplements, special dietary food, etc.
kencc wrote: I've re-skimmed through the book and don't get a sense of alternative options of 5:2 to suit an individual's particular circumstances. However Dr M and Mimi's website now have in, for example, the FAQ section all the alternatives for those very many people not losing one-pound-a-week e.g. 4:3, ADF, reducing calories from drinks, increasing activity levels, 10,000 steps, keeping a food diary, don't over-compensate on normal eating days, etc, etc, etc, etc. Way, way beyond the original simple, effortless, quick, effective, pounds-fly-off promoted in the book. For a very large number of people, the book is mis-leading and KISS doesn't apply.

Thus, you are saying 5:2 in its original form will not be enough for people looking to lose one pound a week.

That is correct from what I can tell around here.

My point is that 1 pound a week for many of us is probably just not necessary.

Life is short but not that short.

1 pound a month even sounds good!
This is the first time I've encountered the usage of "sweetie" in KISS. Yes, we all share a common goal here!

Aaargh! This ad for "the first supplement designed for the 5:2 diet' is being served as the ad on the left of the forum (for me). We don't need special supplements!

http://www.52fastformula.com/
Yeah i dont like the supplement advertising here but i guess the owners need to fund it somehow. Thoughts?

We are a captive audience for the supplement people I guess but its just wrong.

And yeah we dont need supplements or drugs to support our lifestyle here. My tummy is growling here as its fast day today for me but I can handle it.

What are the supplements made of anyway?

Google "Dr. Alfred fast track formula" hmmmm
