Hi ..this is probably a silly question..but how does the science bit work...we can lose inches and not weight....obviously exersize does this...it for people who don't? Just curious....xx
Often there is fat lost but water or muscle is gained. Because a pound of fat is much bigger than a pound of water or muscle, you are smaller but weigh the same!
Cheers...is the fat loss purely down to the reduction in cals? Or some other reason?x
I'm not losing either;((
Just cals eaten being less than energy used...so less food and increased exercise can both help. Sadly exercise alone doesn't cause much fat loss but when added to calorie restriction it can help a lot.

Although that equation (cals in minus energy used) sounds simple, the energy used bit is complicated. PhilT and I have been having a long running discussion in nerdy stuff about that! The cals in that we calculate may also be a bit inaccurate. So although we can use TDEE calculators and calorie listings to try to calculate whether we have eaten less than we've used, sometimes the inevitable inaccuracy results in no fat lost.
Who knew it was all so complicated lol...thanks for explanation carorees x
