Regular meals
20 Jan 2013, 14:42
Hi All
I am just asking what may be an obvious question but I am unsure what to do. Since commencement of the 5:2 I have noticed my overall appetite has altered. Today I was not hungry for breakfast , my question is should I eat or just wait for natural hunger. I am confused because we are told to eat 3 meals a day. Hope that is clear thank you xx

Well, I'd say wait until you're hungry. I believe that the advice to eat regular meals is behind a lot of the obesity problem! Lots of the experts that Dr Mosley spoke to routinely skip one or more meals a day.

I agree unless you’re at your target or underweight, I wouldn’t worry about it. I think it quite normal to not be as hungry on feed days once you’re into the swing of this diet.

Yeah I'm learning that's ok to skip meals. I looked up at that link: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/e ... edule.html.

Me too, I was starving last week and had all sorts of things on feed days. Today I'm not hungry so just had cake and ice cream for lunch (!) as it needed eating and it's better than having lots of food and then the cake! Just had chicken and mash for tea, very full now.

I've read somewhere that 2 meals a day was common before the 19th Century and it was only the Victorians that introduced extra meals. Left on my own, I would eat at 11 and 5, with a snack at 9.

I read somewhere that the Romans thought that having more than one meal a day was gluttony!
