Re: Body fat %age

I've just bought myself Omron body composition scales as I was curious about body fat %age. Thankfully I was aware of there inaccuracy but want to watch the numbers go down. Just as well, it give me a body fat %age of 41.6% and a visceral fat reading of 7. Given that I'm 5'8" and my BMI is now 26.something I thought the body fat %age was high for me and given that I am very apple shaped (but slim elsewhere) I thought the visceral fat reading of 7 (0-9 being normal) was low. I'm not too worried about it though and I will just continue to monitor it every week hopefully seeing a downward trend on the body fat %age.

My readings were pretty much the same wildmissus! I bought some this week, & my body fat is 40% & visceral is 7. I've just got into the 'normal' BMI I think ( well the top end of normal anyway)
So it does seem high. I can only summise that it's not round my organs but my backside must be more humongous than I thought!

If at a BMI of 18.5 you had 18% body fat (female) and weighed 55.2 kg / 122 lbs then at BMI = 25 you would weigh 74.6 kg / 164 lbs. If all the extra were fat then your body fat % would be 39.3% so the above don't seem a mile out.
