In need of warmth on Fast Days.
10 Mar 2013, 09:33
I can't find the post about feeling cold on Fast Days but this also happens to me. I think Carorees mentioned that it was because we are not eating therefore we don't generate heat. Whilst at Holland and Barrett yesterday I picked up a packet of Higher Living's Sweet Chilli herbal teabags. They contain cocoa, licorice, chilli, ginger, cinnamon, fennel, anise, black pepper, vanilla, cardomom and cloves. Just trying one now. Its quite pallatable. I wondered what you have to warm you up on fast days. Do you think this tea might speed up my metabolism and help me burn fat, or is that wishful thinking? :?:
Yup, I've heard that cinnamon and other warming spices are good for the metabolism. Probably doesn't make a huge difference but every little helps. That tea sounds good, I feel a shopping trip coming on!
I think that's probably wishful thinking since although I seem to recall some surveys showing that chilli can raise the metabolism, I doubt there's enough in a teabag to do so.

I have Teapigs chilli chai tea and drink that if I'm particularly chilly on a fast day. Or an Earl Grey with a slice of lemon.

Or I go and do something to get moving - that seems to kick off the internal heating again too.
Exercise is the best way of warming up plus it burns more fat off!! ;-)
I really feel cold on fast days so do the housework on them. Vacuuming and ironing, cleaning the kitchen floor etc anything with plenty of movement. Hot drinks in between too. A walk for at least half an hour when the weather allows lives the spirits too. Pip pip :0)
I wear a down jacket and fingerless gloves, keep the heat up, and take hot baths. Thinking about getting an electric blanket to get the bed warmed up. I'm wondering if I'll stay cool in the summer this way.
