Hello all, I am fairly new to IF and am in my third week. I have been doing really well so far and am pleased with the results but I am really really struggling today. I think it is more mental motivation but I am tempted to eat today and try again tomorrow. Or shall I try and stick with it? Help/advice please!? Thank you.

Hi Melanie
Welcome to the forum. I hope we can give you some support and tips!
Sorry to hear you are struggling today. I think a few people are because the cold weather makes one think of food.
Should you give in and eat today? There will always be days that are harder than others and of course, there is no reason that you could not stop fasting today and change to another day, but, well, if it is just a mental thing, why not see if you can keep going for a bit longer at any rate?
Hunger pangs do pass, so, why not put off making the decision for now? Have a hot drink (perhaps some Bovril/Marmite or vegetable/beef stock) and see if you can hold out for say, another 2 hours?
Then in 2 hours time reassess and see if you can make another two hours!
Good luck!

Caroline is right - you could put it off until tomorrow but it can't hurt to try to keep going. Think of it this way, you've made it thus far into today, do you want to have to go through the same thing tomorrow?
Have yourself a nice hot drink and take today one low cal beverage at a time. You can do it!

Thank you both , I needed that! I'm so pleased I found this forum, I think its really good to have other fasters to talk to.
I haven't given in and am determined not to now especially as i'm nearly half way through the day - just had a cup of tea and feeling much better!
Today has been my hardest so far but reading other peoples tips and posts has given me a kick up the bum and reminded me why I am doing it so thank you.

I want to echo what they said about a hot drink and waiting. It's really the best way for me to get through it too.
I have found that once I eat, the hunger is a lot harder to avoid. Spreading the calories out through the day makes me have a much more miserable day.
Have a hot drink (broth, tea, black coffee) and hold off as long as you can! It does get easier, I promise. I have done this four times now, and the 4th was far easier than the 1st.

I've found its a LOT easier to not eat at all during the day, and then have the 600 cals in the evening. I think once you start eating then the brain goes into survival mode ie eat all you can now!!
