Need some Guinea Pigs!
21 Jan 2013, 14:22
Well, the coding for the Progress Tracker system is going well, just a few more graphs to prep and then it's ready for a few testers.

If any of you have been doing this for a little while and have been recording your progress, primarily weight & dates please would you give me a hand with the testing? I'll need you to enter your data into the system so I can check how things cope with real data.

Could do with a range of genders/sizes/ages but anyone who's willing and has some data would be great. Sign up here please and I'll be in touch about how to access the test system later!

Thanks all, this should be enough testers now!

I have set the tracker up to allow just the testers & myself access at the moment, so there's no harm in me posting the URL for it here :)

Progress Tracker - test phase!

First of all please let me say it's not all singing all dancing, but hopefully it will give us some useful info. As the amount of stats available grow I hope to include more charts on the forum data and perhaps even allow users to download the data (without it being personally identifiable) to create their own charts/interpretations. I'm no scientist, just a bit of a coder!

I've never used the graphing add on before so am still learning, hence fairly basic charts for now. It will be nice to see them working with a little bit more data :)

I do hope everything is fairly self explanatory, but do ask questions here if needed. I forgot to add in the waist measurement option but that shouldn't be a problem and for now I'd just like to get a bit of bugtesting done with your help. Hopefully the system won't break too easily ;)

There's probably a lot of stuff people would like me to add and perhaps I'll try to find time to do so before it goes live to all users.

If you encounter an error please post it here or message me with it, along with details of what web browser you're using.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Don't worry, your confidentiality is safe with me :) Well done on displaying the details to the left!

I've already spotted a slight blip in how it calculates the forum-wide stats, it doesn't seem to be taking your loss into account. I shall have to fix it before I prep my fasting lasagne!

Wow, Moogie, what a fantastic job! The forum wide stats are fascinating and will become more so as we get more data!

I've added all my weight loss since I started and being a mod, have made it all public

Thanks all of you for entering your data. I've spotted a bit of a bug where it calculactes the weight loss for display under your avatar, so will need to look at that today - am out this morning so maybe this afternoon if not too much work on. I think this is also throwing the overall forum figures off a bit, but I'll double check that too.

Has anyone else spotted any other problems?

Okay, so I took a really quick look before going out & have fixed the display setting, so if you all go back to the tracker homepage it should fix your loss stat for you :) (I figure it is best to have all the losses under the avatars displayed in the same format, so opted for kg - makes it easier to compare).

No time to look at the overall stats for now much as I'd love to!
