Re: Skipping breakfast

I very rearly eat breakfast. When I used to eat breakfast it was usually toast or cerial. I found that around mid morning I would suffer from a low blood sugar episode where I would become dizzy, iritable, unable to concentrate or perform fine motor tasks.

This feeling would only be aleviated by eating something sugary like biscuits or a chocolate bar. My doctor advised me to eat more carbs for breakfast, which I did and it worked for a while. However the problem came back and I found I was eating more for breakfast and still had to resort to the chocolate bar.

Paradoxically, I found that if I didn't eat any breakfast I didn't get the low blood sugar episodes so part of my cure was to skip breakfast and embark on a lower carb diet.

I still get opposition from people who insist "you should eat breakfast" but I function perfectly well without breakfast and don't intend to go back to eating it.

I'm glad to hear that skipping breakfast is okay. With or without breakfast, I'm hungry at 11am.

I love breakfast and didnt think I could do without it but struggled with breakast & dinner on fast days. Felt dizzy, cranky and just starving. Switched to skipping breakfast, late lunch and dinner and found it soooo much easier :-)

Yes only been eating 1000 cals on non fasting days recently as I want to shift weight more quickly - previously I had been eating 1200 every day and if I had a social event I might go to 1500 cals.

Hi Marie as others have said 1000 cals is far to low, you aren't doing 5:2 the way it's meant to be done, to me you're on a (very low) calorie restricted diet constantly.
You cant possibly keep that up all the time, and shouldn't for health reasons...try and eat nearer your TDEE on 'normal' days...you might be shocked just how much you do lose...good luck

I find skipping breakfast much easier. Ok if I don't eat but once I start I want more. I don't eat breakfast the day after a fast either normally because I just don't want it!
