I never used to. It was all about the bottom line - those calories!

Now, thankfully, I don't have a sweet tooth, so no sugar or chox for me. And I don't add salt when I cook (and I never buy ready meals!).

However, using My Fitness Pal, I can see where some hidden sugars and salt lies.
Also how much protein I've consumed in a day.

Using the reports has helped me keep within the guidelines, as well as losing weight. I can also see those little 'empty' calorie, like wine, creep in (occasional treat now!)

It has, I hope, helped my diet in more 'weighs' than one!!!

What do you watch, other than calories?
I add salt to keep the light headedness at bay, I have normal blood pressure so salt isn't an issue otherwise.

I do eat low carb and sugar is just another carb so I don't watch that specifically.
If by watching the salt, you mean gazing lovingly at the gorgeous flakes of fleur de sel as they fall on my food, then yes, I watch my salt.

I do try to avoid sugar the night before a fast as it seems to make the fast day easier. But that's about it.
I don't watch salt as such but I don't add it to most food and don't buy ready meals often. Sugar I have in my daily piece of cake (except fast days) but that's all. Carbs - low as poss on fast days, otherwise just keep them balanced.
I've just found My Fitness Pal and I agree with PennyForthem that it is useful to be aware of the hidden sugars, salt etc. It doesn't stop me from enjoying a cheeky chocolate bar or a bottle of beer!!
When I first tried MFP last summer, I was blown away that I kept going over my suggested sugar target on days when I felt like I was eating well. It was an eye opener.
