General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

Hello all and Happy Easter Weekend!!!
This is my second week on 5:2 and I am done with my two fasts (Tuesday and Friday).
I always fast on weekdays because, well, you know how weekends are.
Anyway, I am going out tonight which means that I will not wake up before 2pm tomorrow and I will stay in tomorrow evening since there is no footy worth watching (that's usually why I go out on Sunday afternoons/evenings).
So, half of the day tomorrow will be gone before I wake up and there is no beer in the horizon. It sounds like the perfect opportunity to fast!
I know that I've said that I will try 4:3 if I stop losing weight but it's like a 3rd fast is calling my name...
Any opinions/input?
I've mixed 5:2 and 4:3 according to need. However, 50% of what I've lost has been during the 3 of 9 weeks I've done on 4:3. I tend to fast Tuesdays and Thursdays and then add in one day at the weekend (like today!).
Thanks!
I was thinking of doing Monday/Wednesday/Friday next week but then I remembered that it's that time of the month and I will probably not make 3 days with all the pain killers that I have to take, plus the crave for sugar.
Perhaps this Sunday came on the right time, I think I'll try it, then do Tuesday/Friday next week and perhaps another 4:3 on the week after next.
Am I over-planning???
Think Caroline found there was very little difference in weight loss between people doing 5:2 or 4:3 but I suppose there is no harm in trying to see how it works out for you, then you'll know for future use whether its doing.
I seem to be squeezing in a 3rd fast today. I ate my usual breakfast for both fast and feed days and haven't been hungry. This weekend is unusual in that I'm on my own so no one suggesting eating out or snacks or heavy meals. I figure "eh...why not?" If I stick to 500cals today, great. If not, I've decided I will *not* feel guilty.
Sounds good. Since we're done with the usual two, if the third doesn't succeed then who cares? But if it does then GREAT!!!
I don't think it's worth it the 5:2 diet works really well. I enjoy eating far too much...

4:3 might invite failure. It is important to succeed. Go for success...

5:2 is a lifestyle decision...
It really does depend on the person. We fast Monday and Fridays (usually do not have anything going Friday nights) So I can fast Wednesdays if I want to. And I usually do. My husband is happy with the 5:2. I will continue the 4:3 because I am doing so well with it. (9 lbs in 3 weeks). He may join me this week after a week of extra eating.

Yeah, 4:3 is 5:2 for those with a "big bite"

May I ask why do you say that?
My partner and I do 4:3.
I have lost a stone in 9 weeks and she 13lbs. We have both increased exercise but only by 25 mins 3 times a week.

We fast mon, weds, Friday. Monday is by far the hardest day ! But we do it

(While I'm typing this I'm looking at my ferrero rocher Easter egg and thinking, yep, Monday IS going to be tough this week)
My thoughts would be to give it a go and not think of it as a fast day but a low eating day. That way, if you have your allotted cals only then it's a success and if you go over it's still a success. Win-win!

That's a really good way of putting it, Jane. I'm going to the races for the afternoon tmw, so have decided to do something similar, but if it might seem rude of me to decline food, I'll just go with the flow and not worry about it.

TML...
I saw that the statistics (so far) show no difference between results on 5:2 or 4:3, but surely success will come from doing what you are comfortable with, so go for it!! :clover:
Well, so far so good.
It is a less-than-36-hours fast though since I was eating and drinking till the wee hours but this ensured that I wake up at 3.30 in the afternoon and have my lunch at 5.30 so now I'm an hour away from dinner and I'm not even hungry!

^^ Sounds like a great plan! Go for it and see how it goes. No sense in wasting half a day asleep, I mean fasting.
