Smoking?

There have been a few mentions in passing of smoking, still and given up, but I've not seen any advice on how to do it.
So, my advice is to switch to electronic cigarettes with refillable cartomisers. The e-liquid comes in different flavours, most of them pretty awful. But then I did smoke Old Holborn with liquorice cigarette papers for fifty years. I settled on menthol flavoured pg e-liquid, not vg e-liquid, with 12mg nicotine to fill the empty cartomisers.
Varying nicotine strengths are available including 0mg, and upto 24mg and points in between

The nicotine strength can then be reduced by combining 0mg e-liquid with whatever strength e-liquid you started with and thereby diluting the strength.
This can be a more gradual process than the sudden drops of the nicotine patches.

It took me exactly one year to stop smoking, but worked a treat. It's also healthier, not healthy but healthier, than smoking tobacco, especially bought cigarettes and cheaper, until the EU and presumably tobacco and pharmaceutical companies get their way.
No weight was gained due to giving up smoking.
:snail: It did take a while though.
Loads of info on youtube or just google electronic cigarette.

I'm smoking but not a lot and I'm not planning to give up.
But I do enjoy seeing people smoking their electronic fags in the metro and getting the "evil eye" from other passengers who think that they are smoking regular fags! It's cracking! :-)

Although I applaud anyone for giving up smoking, I'm not sure its wise to be trying two big lifestyle interventions at once! If and when fasting really is a permanent part of your life you will be in a better frame of mind to stop smoking too.

Nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs there is, so stopping smoking is a big thing to take on.

That makes sense. I had a friend who had quit smoking and went to a dietician to start a diet at the same time and he told her to choose one of the two. He explained that it's not easy to do to biggies at the same time, plus her metabolism would slow down if she quit smoking and her diet results wouldn't be good, something that might discourage her.
She decided to continue smoking, lost the weight she wanted and then she quit smoking while trying to stick with the diet whenever she felt like it so that she wouldn't gain weight. She succeeded! She even stopped smoking for more time than she was planning to!

I "smoke" electric ciggies and I think they are brilliant! I had a constant sore throat and knew I would be in for big trouble unless I cut it down. My daughter had 'flu and her OH bought her one as she couldn't smoke a normal ciggie, for coughing, she was so impressed she got me to try it and as soon as I did I knew I could do it too. That was 10 months ago and I feel so much better, no more sore throat etc., Also I did not gain weight because I still feel like I'm smoking, all you are getting is a nicotine hit, It has to be better than tobacco. I know it's an emotional crutch for me and I know not smoking at all would be better still but I know it's a terrible thing to admitt, but I enjoy the feeling of smoking. X

Why terrible? I enjoy smoking too, that's way I don't want to quit.
I am a good girl though, I smoke as much as doctors say it's fine and I don't smoke when I am unwell. A couple of months ago I spent two weeks without smoking because I had a very nasty and stubborn cold. I also try to not smoke once a week. Yesterday, for example, I succeeded.
