General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

I think it was Caroline who said so (I apologise if it was someone else) and I found that it happens with me as well.
I decided to keep a diary with my calorie count and weight loss and I realised that on two occasions I had no loss after the fast but I did lose on the day after the first feast day.
It might feel weaird to weigh after a fast and see little or no loss but it is a pleasant surprise to see half a kilo gone after a day of good food and alcohol.
I am hoping that is what happens tomorrow! have had apple pie and ice cream tonight though so maybe not!
I had ice cream too last night and I lost half a kilo this morning so don't worry!!!
This always happens with me. Generally I fast on Mondays and Thursdays and always find I weigh less on Saturday morning than Friday. Hence Saturday is my official weigh day
Unfortunately this wasn't the case for me last week! I usually weigh in on a Friday morning after fasting on a Tursday. Last week after doing 4:3 instead of 5:2 I was disappointed to find I had stayed the same. Caroline suggested I weighed in again on the Saturday to see if, like you, I could see a loss on the Saturday. I was very upset to see I had gained 1 lb :-(
Good luck though!
I find my weight fluctuates randomly though the week - I still have a downward trend over all though. Constipation can play a big part in how much weight you do or don't lose and when...

Indeed, it goes downwards with a few annoying upward movements.
Constipation can be a pain in the @rse (no pun intended, LOL). Last week I had a no-loo-visits crisis and I gained a pound which went away as soon I started eating prunes.
Jenny, don't worry, it was probably just a bad day/week.
Oy! I don't even want to step on the scale again. It is too depressing. I'm not sure anything is happening. Well, at least I'm not slowly going up and up, which was what was happening before. And at least, I can enjoy beer, cheese, wine and crackers without having to freak out. I can deal with it.

Oh don't be like that. I'm sure that things will get going soon! Keep the faith!

TML,

I don't have much to lose, so it is not coming off quickly at all. I suppose it would if I gave up all the goodies I enjoy so much (cheese, crackers, beer, nuts, chocolate), but I can't seem to let go of them. Yesterday, I kicked off the day by polishing off a box of almond butter cookies. They were so good. I can't stop thinking about them. I swear I am going to jump in my car and go get some more as soon as I finish typing.
I feel for you.
My dad says that when we go to the supermarket I don't shop, I flirt with the food.
I think of food all day and all night.
But, somehow, since I started 5:2 and saw that it works I have less craving for food.
I agree on the constipation thing & how much you can lose once 'you've been'. Has anyone else found they are not 'going' as often since starting this? Obviously, haven't as much waste, but don't think I'm having enough fibre.
On fast days I eat just oatmeal. Should be enough fibre but perhaps my sewer system disagrees. It could be just a reaction to the changing of eating habits and things will turn back to normal soon. Hopefully.
