General 5:2 and Fasting Chat

30 posts Page 1 of 2
I was going to fast tomorrow, and now I'm meeting a friend at Pizza Express for a chat and catch up.

Just looked at their menu and they have a (new?) leggera light option which is a thin pizza with a hole in the middle filled with salad. They state that all the leggera options are 500 calories or less.

Option 1 - move my fast to Thursday.

Option 2 - fast as usual (I usually skip breakfast and lunch), have a leggera pizza and a fizzy water and enjoy chatting anyway.

What would you do?! :?:
I would do option 1. I tend to have less control in social situations and a tendency to not pay attention to what is going into my mouth when I am chatting away. Also, I hate to feel "deprived" at a restaurant. That is just me though. Let us know what you decide!
Option 2
Go for it! At least if you have a sneaky bit over your 'allowance' you will have fasted on your preferred day, had fun AND have tried out the pizza!
Well then I'll say the opposite - go for the 500 cal pizza. If you really feel like something else, have it and fast another day. But it would be good to feel you can do a night out AND fast! And sure if you skip breakfast and lunch you'll have done a 24 hour fast anyway.
I'd go for option 1.
I would never be able to restrict myself at a pizza place, nor would I eat all my allowance in one go? What if you get hungry earlier or later?
Thank you all - that's 2 all!

I think I will start the day intending to fast and do as normal, and then if I need to change things, I will. I have a sneaky feeling I will do it though and fast and have the light pizza :)
Let us know!
Well, I would go out with option 2 in mind, but if you find yourself wanting more, like wine, garlic bread etc., then I would just enjoy my evening out, have what I want and move the fast day to Thursday.

That's what I love about this woe, it's so flexible, so you don't have to feel like you're missing out on anything.

Anyway, the important thing is, enjoy yourself and there's always tomorrow to catch up.
Apologies if I have posted this too late but for future reference...

If you go for the goats cheese and veg salad, ask them to remove the dressing and dough sticks - only clocks in at 375 calories.
Thanks Jenny - next time!

Today was brilliant! I did fast all day and then had the Padana Leggera pizza / salad (500cal), with sparkling water, followed by fresh mint tea - deeeeelicious!

I love 5:2 - I enjoyed a lovely evening out with a friend (we chatted non-stop!) all on a fast day!! :)
First off, I would never eat a pizza with a hole in the middle where they put a salad. I don't know what that is, but it is not a pizza.

I generally stick to my fast schedule and work my social life around my fasting. It is just much easier for me to have a schedule and know when I am going to fast. As far as I'm concerned, something is always going to come up. I can always find an excuse not to fast.

I never say, "I'll just fast tomorrow," because tomorrow will come and I would much rather have my fast over with and wake up to enjoy a big bowl of fresh berries. As the saying goes, never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa haaaaaaa I agree!!!

In my teen years we used to say "never do today what you can put off till tomorrow". I still do it, most of the times. ;-)
Well, I didn't put off till tomorrow - I fasted today.

And if you never ate a Pizza Express Pizza Leggero, you would not know how delicious it was. I was quite pleased with myself actually.
