On medication?
13 Apr 2013, 20:29
The wonders of modern medicine keep many folk alive and let them lead a normal life, for which we celebrate.

However, I do wonder how much over medication is prevalent? I am constantly amazed at how many of my B&B guests come with their own small pharmacy. This is not prying, but simply an observation from looking after their rooms.

Personally I consider myself fortunate at the age of 59 to have so far avoided daily tablets, though my OH is on them.

I believe the government encourages medication targets for GP's? Do you think there are too many folk rattling with pills? Are you on prescriptions too? Will 5:2 help us to avoid them?

Yes! There is some debate in the medical literature about over diagnosis and over prescribing. Equally, some disorders are under diagnosed and under prescribed!

The amount of blood pressure medications and statins prescribed has been questioned.

Certainly some of our members have been able to reduce/come off some of their medications. I'm hoping to come off my blood pressure tablets soon!
