Kate Harrison's book on 5:2
16 Apr 2013, 19:42
Hi all,
I was browsing Amazon to buy a couple of books (books in English are very expensive here) and I saw a book on 5:2 written by Kate Harrison. I was curious if she is the same Kate Harrison who wrote the Secret Shopper series.

BTW, I bought 3 books and I used Moogis's link to Amazon. Although I almost always buy used ones so I'm not so sure whether I did any good...

Yes she is, see http://kate-harrison.com/, and she also runs a Facebook group (I think, I don't use Facebook) and a rival forum.

Yes it's the same author. Her book is ok if you know nothing about 5:2 but not once you've found us!

I think that just entering Amazon via this site will generate some income for the site but not sure. I think Moogie will be needing some income as we've been getting resource limit reached notices again - oops!

Is it worth buying the original 5:2 book? I have this forum and have watched the Horizon programme so just wondered if its worth it really?

Interesting, thank you all for your replies!
I won't bother with any rival websites but good for her, I love her books!

Caroline, although my knowledge is limited, I don't think that the 508/limited resources message that we see has to do with money. I think it's something regarding to the capacity. But I'm not sure so don't take my word...

Claire, a friend was going to send me her copy of the book but after I found this forum I told her not to.

What I mean is that Moogie may have to upgrade to cope with the pressure on resources which will cost money not that the message meant there was a cash crisis...but I know nothing about running a website!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, that makes sense! I know nothing either, perhaps our conversation might seem very funny to someone who does, LOL!!!

The resources messages occur when one of the following happens-
- the server CPU is maxed out
- the server memory is maxed out
- entry processes Max out
Usually when any of the above happens it should only be momentary and then go back down. Last time I checked the server logs this only seemed to occur a fees times a day and maybe only for a few minutes total.

I've enquired with my host about changing to a virtual private server but that doesn't actually seem to offer any benefits over the current account in tends of server CPU or RAM. So I guess I may have to look at moving to a dedicated server. Not yet sure what that will cost. For now, the problems don't seem to be too frequent, is not happening on and off all day long.

Regarding Amazon, the commission is based only on sales, not clicks - and the rate of commission varies by product type.

Anyway, sorry this is a bit off topic really as this was a thread about Kate Harrison!

Personally, I don't find the problems annoying at all.

Aaaaaah, now I'm sorry that I only buy used books. But I will make it up to the forums by Xmas!

Haha, bless you! Even used book sales through Amazon should pay a couple of pence commission I think :)

I hope so! If only you were getting commission from postage... ;-)

Moogie, do kindle book sales count? Need an Australian link to Amazon, can't buy on UK or US.

Hi wine oclock, you are my favourite time of day! Im in NZ and I can log on to the US link and purchase. Since in the states they dont know the difference between Oz and NZ, (warning gross generalisation, sorry american members ) it might work for you.
