Anyone vegan?
17 Apr 2013, 05:08
Hello to everyone from the U.S!
Just curious, is anyone doing 5:2 (or 6:1) while being vegan? For Lent, I am not consuming meat, dairy, poultry, oil, and wine. I started 5:2 basically three weeks ago, but had to take a week break. I have found that I overeat on feast days because I feel like I'm not "getting something." Is this just part of the adaptation period or is it a nutritional issue? Anyone else like this?

Hi & welcome!
I found my body took a while to adapt to fasting, maybe a few weeks, but it got easier. In my opinion, I don't like to this of non-fast days as feast days, as I like to still eat in a generally healthy way & not overeat for the hell of it. Just persevere, your body will get used to the fasting and respond accordingly, you may find, like a lot of people, that you simply don't want to overeat on food days. Stick around this forum, there is a lot of good advice and support.

Hi there and welcome!

Yes there are several vegan members. Check out this thread: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=515

There are several vegan recipes in the recipe section too!

The overeating on feed days seems to be very common in the early days and then you adjust. I think it's partly the freedom to eat what you like and partly a subconscious desire to stock up on food for your fast day.

Good luck
