Giving Blood
29 Apr 2013, 12:17
I give blood regularly and usually find it easy. However, for various reasons, I have not given blood since starting 5:2 which I have been doing happily for 6 months.

I am due to give blood on Thursday, mid-morning. I usually fast Monday and Thursday but obviously will not fast Thursday as I don't think it is a good idea.

Do you think I would be ok to fast on Wednesday instead or would it be too soon to give blood the morning after a fast day (low blood sugar or something?). I have to drive later that day and don't want to pass out. On the other hand my weight loss has really slowed down to about a pound a month so concerned that I will gain (and can only do one fast day the following week).

Any thoughts?

Hi there...have a look at these threads for some previous experience:

I would have thought that Wednesday fasting would be OK as long as you have a good breakfast on Thursday before donating.
