No calcium and iron nutritional additives, or are they in the flour.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I shall make my first batch of bread and rolls this weekend and weigh and calorie count carefully.

Also, I think a sourdough starter is on the cards a well. I do love a good sourdough bread :-)

Kev.
YAY- the potato and herb bread is amazing! Very pleased and will not count the calories!
Can you share the recipe and calorie count of the ones you do Kev (pretty please)?
Must investigate sourdough...
I just use My Fitness Pal. They have a comprehensive catalogue. A slice of bread, normal thickness, usually runs about 110 calories.
This is something I've been wondering about for a bit, I make bread most days, there is not a lot better than homemade bread.
Sourdough is awesome - and you can use the discard to make crumpets etc too.

Happy to donate some Sammy Sourdough to anyone who's in South London who struggles with getting their own starter going or just wants to start baking quicker! I started him about 3.5 years ago and he's still going strong. He tends to make 2-3 white crusty loaves each month; I cut them into thirds and freeze it. But he's also risen fruit loaves, hot cross buns and panettone.
ARGHHHH!!!

why would I come to a thread about homemade bread on a fast day?

The only bread I eat is homemade.
