What percent of your overall total weight loss goal do/did you lose when you hit your first plateau? If it's easier just list how much you lost before you hit the plateau and how much more weight you have to lose before you reach your goal.

For me, I've stalled at 17lbs lost with another 12 to go, meaning I've lost 60% of my total....
I hit the plateau at 7-8 weeks, 7 lbs down with another 14lbs to go. I was losing 1lb per week till I got to 7 weeks, then on my 8th week I hadn't lost any weight. 9th week coming up next week so we will see........
I hit my plateau at 7 weeks and it lasted 3 weeks. I had lost 11 lbs. when it struck. I have since lost 2 more, but I have a long way to go, so my % is low. I still need to lose about 70 lbs.
I hit it at week 4, I have a total of 8 kilos to lose and I had lost 3,5 before I stopped losing.
I had lost 10 lbs then gradually regained 4 lbs, read kencc's post about NEAT and now with moving more, as of this morning the 4 lbs are gone and hopefully will continue. Still have 45 lbs to go.
I started with about 50 pounds to lose and hit a "plateau" at around 8 weeks in at about 12 lbs lost and hit a second "plateau" in the last few weeks at around 16 weeks in and about 25 pounds lost.

Scare quotes around "plateau" because I agree with kencc -- they aren't plateaus so much as a psychological human need to see patterns in the data. They certainly FEEL like actual, real plateaus!

The key is to stick to it, to not get frustrated, and to do things like check your TDEE and maybe track your calories for a few non-fast days to see if you might be taking in more than you think. There are other reasons, of course, that might be hurting your efforts to lose weight (an underactive thyroid is apparently quite common among the people in who participate in these forums).

Also, if you are exercising a lot, especially if you are exercising now and you didn't before, your body reacts to stressful workouts the way it reacts to most stressful things -- inflammation. This water retention will mask weight loss temporarily.

Carorees has a great post about "why am I not losing weight when I've been so good?" Check it out: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1006
Ok, explain this then........ The only thing I did differently on week 7 was count calories to ensure that I was within my TDEE according to Moogies new personalised TDEE recommendations on the tracker. I just can't see any reason for stopping losing between weeks 7 and 8. Will keep going though because I am enjoying the fast days. My clothes are definitely looser, so I really don't understand the no weight loss situation. Maybe I put too much emphasis on the weight thing and should ignore it but then I feel that I would be letting Caroline and her stats down. Still, as I am fairly new to all this, I am still learning.

Or here's a thought..... Perhaps my scales are dodgy
Wendy your tracker shows you lost 7 pounds in 6 weeks before a one-week stall, and you are looking at your last stone before your goal.

I'm figuring when I get to within a stone of my final goal I'll be lucky to average a pound every two weeks. The last pounds are the slowest!

But I know how you feel. No matter how good it looks overall, it's frustrating when the scales don't move for one or two or more weeks (or worse yet they go up a bit).
Hit a "plateau" at week 6, after losing 5.5 lbs. Still want to lose 6.5 lbs more. Not worried, and I may gain some this week because we've got back-to-back company, and I WILL be drinking some craft beers, at the very least. :)

I was 6wks in having lost 6lbs. Been stuck for ages loosing and gaining the same 2lbs. I'm annoyed that it happens but I'm not about to give up as my weight loss has follwed the same pattern right from the start 53lbs ago. I lose a chunk of weight and then can stick for up to two months before I lose another chunk. My trend is slowly downwards but the steps are annoying. At least 5:2 is more a WOL than a diet as such so it seems to matter less as I'm not really looking towards an end point.
With no statistical back up at all, I feel that plateaus are a good thing as they allow your body to readjust to its new weight before continuing on the downward slide. I have found the slowed loss makes it much less likely to put the weight back on. Therefore plateaus are a good thing.
Anyone else agree?
I agree Gigi, sometimes your body needs to adjust to where it is for a bit before dropping more weight. I think that the weight that you lose after a plateau is " real " weight somehow.
I was thinking maybe I'd hit a plateau. Don't seem to be losing lbs or inches but have noticed that my builders bum/muffin top is definitely smaller and not as wobbly. I have lost about 7lb and would like to lose another 5-7lb and am coming up to 8 weeks doing 4:2 not 5:2. I have an injury that prevents me from my normal running exercise so will see this week if the reduction in exercise affects the scales. Even if it does I will keep going as I do feel better in myself and belly is not uncomfortable anymore. X
Hi amberenchanted, just noticed, we started this woe the same week, lost the same amount of weight and plateaued at the same time. Coincidence.
If my trend line looked like that I'd be chuffed to bits! I'm talking flat bits of up to 2mths at a time. Its only because I have seen the repeating pattern that I've been able to stick at it.

I'm with the others who say that it does have a brighter side though. I feel that I'm better adapted to the WoE so I'll be less likely to regain and my skin seems to be keeping better pace with my size. I think I have less problems with baggy bits than some posters.
