Tiredness/inability to function
31 May 2013, 16:17
Has anyone else noticed that they are much more tired/unable to function properly after a fast day? I only started this way of eating this week and so havedone just 2 fasting days so far but feel completely shattered on the days afterwards. Is this usual or will symptoms reduce as time goes on?
Yes, I used to feel really tired both on the fast day itself and the day after. You've shocked your body by starting this new regime but it will adapt. In the meantime be kind to yourself, rest if you can and stick with it because 5:2 really does work!
After 7 months of this WOE, I can say I feel normal on both fast and feed days. Not bounding with energy though like some people...still waiting for that! So, bear with it...it will get better!
I've noticed on the mornings after a fast day that my exercise tolerance is terrible if I don't have a carbtastic breakfast.
I seem to be OK this week but have had a period where I am absolutely shattered on Fast days - in fact the brain won't work, I feel so 'wandered'. I think if I get a bit more sleep I am better, so try going to bed earlier on Fast day and see if u feel better the next day. I must add that by the weekend I'm sometimes so tired I sleep for 10 hours and feel quite tired all day. BUT I do get up very early and commute for 4 hours a day so it could be that? Would love to feel full of energy as some report! So you are not alone, we are all different
I have felt a bit uncoordinated today, but it's the first fast day for over 2 weeks ... I have also felt a lot more tired than usual, but maybe this is normal until I get back into the swing of things :dazed: :sleepy: I hope so
