Has anyone on this forum got any experience of the paleo way of eating. I am unsure how I would manage without grains. If so can I have some advice please thanks x

I think Mark's Daily Apple or Leangains is the place to look for more on this. However, this approach is well-suited to fast days, I think.
I think shell is trying to eat Paleo style for at least some of the week. Check her posts or PM her?
I can't imagine. I have a friend who does it because she's allergic to gluten. She feels great when she's doing it, but periodically she gets too miserable with what she's missing out on and binges on the wrong things -- then she feels horrid for two or three weeks. I feel really sorry for her and grateful that I don't *have* to do it. She does all sorts of bizarre things with nuts to make up for the lack of grains, and I know she has an expensive Vitamix and a juicer - she says they're her lifesaver.

My question is basic as ive seen and heard this . If cavemen, hunter-gathers only typically lived till 30s and 40s.. why should this way of eating be considered a good thing.
Isnt longevity (or lack thereof) ..compared to say Mediterraneans, a simple indication that this just ain't good for you.

Well they probably weren't dying because of their diet. Life had lots of hazards back then compared to now. Not that I'm endorsing this way of eating. I think their ideas about grains and dairy are a load of nonsense for anyone not allergic or sensitive to those things.

Apart from dinosaurs, lol i thought it was poor nutrition (and ability to deal with disease) that killed our ancestors so young.

I went grain free as part of the Christmas Challenge, and have continued to be so. I do not feel deprived or yearn for bread, pasta etc. I am not Paleolithic though because I eat dairy.
I'm not sure I could give up grains AND legumes - when I try to eat fewer grains I always seem to head straight to the beans and lentils! I have so say I haven't looked, though I'd want to see the evidence that our paleo ancestors didn't have access to legumes!
Somewhere along the line our ancestors discovered farming and started to live longer and presumably decided their new lifestyle was a lot better than being a hunter gatherer .
They probably did have trouble getting enough food sometimes.
I'm following (to an extent) the primal blueprint of Mark Sisson AKA http://www.marksdailyapple.com as it includes dairy for probiotics and calcium.
I'm not celiac but appear to be gluten sensitive judging by my stomach reactions when I try a little bread now and then.
By avoiding grains and sugar a lot of junk 'food' becomes unavailable to me, so that helps with weight problems. It also makes me super aware of exactly what I am consuming and I now only want good nutritious real food rather than a hasty commercial snack.
I love coconut butter that contains coconut oil in a tasty way and have 3 teaspoons of this throughout the day. I try to keep my eating within circadian rhythm times so that I'm finished eating by 6.30pm and nothing more for 16 hours.
I'm not so good about the blue light at night as I do watch TV and check on the web but I do try to get 8 hours of sleep which is also recommended.
Bear in mind your own circumstances, unless you are a 20-30's man, and adjust the paleo advice to suit you.
I do feel more alive, healthier, more in control of my life :0)

Dont you need foods like beans and lentils for our digestion?

That's what im saying they discovered agriculture... fruit, veg, grains and enjoyed more longevity. So why go backwards?
Over the years I have learnt that any diet that excludes any food groups or just any food doesn't work for me as I end up wanting it more. My sister did the paleo diet successfully for a while last year (she lost a lot of weight very quickly) but she has ended up putting it all back on and more, weighing more than she has ever done in her life. Don't get me wrong I have looked at this as a way of eating and like many of the meal ideas, so for that reason I'm happy to have paleo meals some of the time. Since I started fasting I have naturally reduced the amount of carbs I eat at meal times, I am not low carb just lower carb that I used to be and I think that is the way to go for me.
