Woke up grumpy!!!
07 Feb 2013, 08:13
Morning all. I'm fasting today and I've woken up grumpy! But then I went to bed grumpy too!! Had bad day in general yesterday, was stuck in a meeting till 8.30pm last night. I'm grumpy cos I didn't sleep very well last night, as I couldn't settle after the meeting. The idea of fasting today has also put me in a bad mood ;-)
But, take absolutely no notice of me!! I will be fine, it'll be a long day, but I know I'll feel better at the end of it if I have fasted.
I'm heading to M&S later to check out the 'fuller for longer' meals. I've been trying to cut carb's out on the fast day, but finding it hard. I read somewhere on the recipe section here that these meals are higher in protein and lower in carbs. So, I'm going to go for an easy option today and have a meal that has the cals all worked out for me. I'll let you know how I get on.
If I can, I'm going to stick it out with no food until 5pmish, it seems to suit me better.
Have a good day everyone - I will cheer up eventually!
Day 6 fasting (week 3).

Oh dear! Still fasting is supposed to improve your mood...the day after, so hopefully tomorrow will be a good day!

Re the Fuller longer meals. They still contain quite a lot of carbs IMO. I resent paying £3.50 for something that contains a fair amount of mashed potato or pasta which actually costs next to nothing. But I'm just an old skinflint!

The Fuller Longer range do claim to have higher protein and 'balanced' carbs. The two in our fridge are 12.1g and 7.6g carbs per 100g.

I've eaten quite a lot of them recently, especially as they have been on offer at 2 for 6 pounds. Tasty - but the portions are not quite as large as I would like!

I think I appreciate having something a little bit different (will get harder if/when I've been through the whole range!) and knowing that the calories are okay without having to plan a meal i.e. think about food, which is always best avoided on a fasting day...

For ease I use either M&S, Tesco Light Choices or WW for my main meal. I do hate paying for something I could make myself, but don't have time ( or enough peace and quiet) to weigh everything just now. And I am afraid if I didn't have something relatively instant I would end up breaking my fast...just 3.3 hrs to go on this fast.

Yes I agree, when in a hurry and hungry good to have something to go to However, portion sizes can be 'enhanced' (in a good way of course) when you make it yourself :)

Hi everyone. Really good to hear all your comments - thanks :-) Still grumpy, but also in control of hunger at the moment. Caroline - I will defo be feeling on top of the world tomorrow - I've really noticed that the day after a fast I have a certain spring to my step and tonnes more energy & vitality. So, I have to look forward to (and just today to get through).
Well, I've been to M&S and done my shop! Yes, they are expensive as Caroline pointed out, but they are on offer at the moment, as Dominic said. I hope I like them, cause I went mad and bought 6!! Its beef stroganoff & extra steamed veggies for tea and the rest have gone in the freezer. So my next 6 fasting days are sorted (I have one main meal early evening). So, meals I have to look forward to are - spicy pork & tomato salsa, chicken tikka, beef & ale pie, chicken arrabbiata and beef & red wine casserole :-)

They are higher in carbs than I had thought (average 30g per meal) which is still pretty lowish (protein average 32g). So we'll see if they really do help me 'stay fuller for longer'. I know they won't really fill me up on a fasting day, but for me it takes away the hassle of calorie counting...I'm hoping it will be easier for me and result in less temptation to over induldge.

Anyway, enough waffling ;-) I'm off to walk the dog. Yo yo xx

BTW - Felixcat, I'm glad someone else is feeling the grumps! We'll be on top of the world tomorrow though x
