Franglaise that's funny about french men liking women on the thin size - I work with a french guy and he's often saying he thinks its a shame the way so many women seem to always be focussed on being thinner than they are. He's one of those who tell me I don't need to lose any weight!
Hi shrinkingrose - oh please don't look at celebrities! Some of them spend hours in the gym and who's to say all those photos aren't photoshopped in some way or other anyway. Go with what looks good for you and what makes you feel good. In the words of Baz Luhrmann and his "Trust me on the sunscreen" track - "Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly" Great track - try and find it on Utube if you've got a few moments. I'm about 5'6" and am heading for the 10 stone mark. At my heaviest I was about 15st 5lb  (now weigh in at 12st 5lb) - good luck shrinking rose - stop when you feel it's right for you
Hi, I'm 5:8 and a half, after 2 weeks of fasting ie, 4 days have got under 11 stone for the first time in about a year :) I'm aiming for about 10:7 which I was about 20 years ago. lower than that I have very small chesticles and would have to fork out on a whole new bra drawer...
How are things going for all the 5 foot 8ters on the forum? I've got 1kg still to go to reach my original target, although I might change my target to 56kgs, depending on wobbly bits once I get 57kgs.
Hope you are all doing well!
5 foot 8 exactly, a height where I can gain a stone without anyone noticing except me. I was lithe and slinky in my teens at 9 stone 4, started 5:2 at an Amazonian 12 stone 2. I had crept into the overweight category and started focussing on slightly overweight people "well now she looks great, about the same weight as me".

I am glad that you posted this, asking the questions I was to scared to. I was surprised when doing my tracker that I didn't instantly know what my target weight was. I put 10 stone but will see how I feel. This is the first diet where I am enjoying each pound loss and not feeling dissatisfied until I am at goal weight.

So week 3 and a 4lb loss, for this week I am happy that I am 11.12
5ft 71/2.
Always hover around 11 stones since I have had 4 kids and the menopause!
Was always around 9.4 in my teens and b.c.
I feel that would be too thin for me at 60, so am aiming for 10 stone ish.
At the moment I'm aiming for 1lb a week. I'll be ecstatic if I can continue to average 1lb a week.
My main aim as a breast cancer survivor is to remain healthy for as long as possible.
My kids are a bit slow on the relationship/ baby thing, so I want to be around to enjoy my grandchildren. Lol.
I'm 5ft 8. Have variously been 10 stone, then 10 1/2 stone and now I'm 11 and 1/2 stone. A couple of years ago I was 14 1/2 stone and lost 3 stone with slimming world, have kept it off but now it's getting difficult to get anymore off with just SW alone hence doing 5:2. I'm finding it really difficult to shift any weight now (I'm 46), I'm reasonably happy where I am as my weight is within the BMI (just) and my waist is less than 50% of my height (just) although I can't get it less than 32". I'd love to be 10 1/2 stone or even 11 stone again but can't see it happening any time soon.

Incidentally at 11 1/2 stone I'm a size 14, I can't remember who it was but someone earlier in this thread said they were 13 + stone and a size 14. Bizarre isn't it that weight has nothing to do with dress size. the only time I've ever been less than a 14 was years ago when I was in my mid 20's and I did loads of exercises and ate NO fat all, literally nothing I ate had any fat in it. Even then I was a size 12.
Hi all 5'8'ers
I am also this height and a bit of an athletic apple shape
before starting to lose weight in january i was 14st 13
now i am 14st. I think for me my comfortable weight would be around 12.7 -13st as i think anything under that i would look ill and scrawny where as the aim is to look andfeel fit and healthy ( i am 45)

my smallest size i can remember is probably around 9.5st when i was at school - then i discovered boys, beer and late night take aways  i still like the beer but boys and take aways have been knockedon the head
good luck all

jeniben
I'm about 5ft 8 too but much heavier than most of you. I was 10st 7lb when at school and in my twenties, then had my family twins and another and have been larger ever since. Now I am approaching 60 and getting smaller on this wonderful way of life! I haven't set a target weight, too scared I expect, but am loving the weight loss so far and will know when to stop, I think.
It's funny, I'm 47 and don't look scrawny at 9 stone. I felt good at 10 stone rather than 11 but feel better now at 9 stone. It's all down to what you feel comfortable with in the end. I'm quite small boned so maybe that has something to do with it.
