Starting the fast at night
01 Feb 2013, 20:52
Hey,

I'm new to the diet and was wondering, does it matter when one starts it? It would be easier for me to start at 8pm and fast through to 8pm the next day. When I fast for religious reasons I do it like this and it's easier to handle.

Is this OK for my metabolism?

Absolutely fine, beauvoir!

I start a 24 hour fast after dinner, fast for 24 hours, have <600 cals then don't eat until breakfast the next day.

Cheers, B&W

Cool, thank you. I'll probably break the fast after 8pm, but as long as I know I can start it at night.

The main thing is not to have your 500/600 cals spread out over the 24 hours and then have a normal meal because that is almost eating normally! You need either to have the restricted calories between waking and going to bed on your fast day, or to fast completely for 24 hours and then have a light meal...not both!

Yah, I figured. When I fast I tend to be liquid only anyway.

That is good advice though, as I know I'd forget that!
